Questions from potential buyer

Hello everyone,

I'm contemplating getting an H3 as DD/medium duty trail rig. Been doing quite a bit of research here and in other places. Two questions still though:

I can get "special pricing" through my employer, however our internal info doesn't say what that actually is. I saw references to 8.35% off MSRP here, is this a standard value or are there different discounts for different groups ? We are a GM supplier. BTW GMID means General Motors .... ?

Looking at the ladder style thingy for underbody protection I think it would allow the vehicle to get easily hung up on rock edges or stumps etc.. Is there an alternative from an aftermarket company ? Looking at an automatic so the tranny pan is of concern.

Thanks,

Christian

HEY CHRIS !!!

If reference to the first part of your question sometimes you can do better without the CERTIFICATE. On an 07 the cert wil really help because many dealers will hold the line somewhat till the 06's are gone.

Now on a 06 you should be able to purchase one at FACTORY INVOICE, NOT WINDOW STICKER minus the close out promo (I THING thats $2500 now)
and then SUBTRACT some more money from their (dealers) holdback. (don't shoot me guys). they the dealers want to move them off their lots. As someone posted before go during the middle of the week, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY in the middle of the day 10am till 2pm on the last couple of days of the month (woops thats gone)

That is possible as long as you purchase ***({ NO })***
dealer added accessories, ONLY GM/HUMMER POSTED PRICE ACCESSORIES, repeat NO dealer add on accessories...

The ladder thingy I'll leave to the youngins...

GOOD LUCK

I think DOI is the only one making aftermarket skids for the H3 right now.

DOI H3 Skidplates

The OEM UCP is okay and the ladder design hasn't really been a problem. You're usually not gonna be dragging your belly over something that could fit through the cage anyway. That said, it would be nice to have something beefier. I've bent mine up pretty good.

I realize the 06 are on closeout, but I test drove one and the 20 HP more in the 07 are a real benefit. Plus, they didn't have an 06 with what I want.

Digging around on GMs cryptic web pages and doing some math it looks the discount is only 6.75%... :(

You don't mention where you are located but in MANY, NOT ALL major metro areas there are many dealers to chose from...

Going back to Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10am till 2pm end of month

Be persistant, be polite, go in with invoice pricing available from
www.kbb.com
www.nada.com
www.edmunds.com
and make yourself a pest.

You might get lucky on an 07 at factory invoice (remember NO dealer accessories)

As my DADDY always said "You work hard for your money, its better in your pocket then theirs"

STILL GOOD LUCK,

RYD

I think you would likely get hung up on the undercarriage more easily as you would on the "armor". The armor should displace any offending object, actually allowing one to slide over it as opposed to getting hung up on the transfer case, converter, etc. Further, I think the armor is to protect the critical components from trail damage as opposed to breaking something without it, thus being left stranded.

All said, I really haven't tested the theory above with mine, despite having the armor. Maybe some of the other true rock jocks on here can add some well-grounded advice to the discussion. :grouphug:

Just a word on the armor - better to have two people installing it than one. I did it by myself and I had to contort my body into positions I didn't think possible to finish the install. :dancingbanana:
