I promised pics(Here they are)
I just picked it up from the shop last night. I can't believe how much bigger the HD tierods are!
[IMG] ![]() [IMG] ![]() [IMG] ![]() Have to plug the shop that did the work! Great guys and killer prices! [IMG] ![]() I bought the Hypertech tuner(30019) and the shift firmness gives options of 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%. I noticed all the other treads people were just stating firm. Does anyone else have these options on their tuner? You can also adjust tire size 1/4 inch at a time. I think I read somewhere that only the superchips did that. |

Re: I promised pics(Here they are)
What kind of tires are those and how did you make your wheels stick out so much from the car? =P
|
Re: I promised pics(Here they are)
Nitto Mud Grapplers. The wheels stick out that far due to the off set of the wheels. Its not too good for the paint and can be harder then hell on the steering suspension components, but it looks sweet.

Alright pardon my complete newbness at this stuff but im going to bust out some questions =P 1. "Off set of the wheels" - Can you explain this further? WHat Off set? 2. "harder then hell on the steering suspension components" - so...what happens? =P |
Re: I promised pics(Here they are)
The offset of the wheel refers to the location of the wheel mounting area. Here's a couple of references:
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/...jsp?techid=101 http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html as far as steering/suspension components, imagine this. take a bar and add 45lb weights about 12" in on each side. twist it back and forth. now take those same weights and put them at the very ends of that bar and add 20lbs. you will find it takes more strength. by adding larger wheels/tires, you add weight and the offset puts the wheels out more. this all causes stress on any gears/moving parts of your suspension/steering. BTW - Good choice on the wheels. Bigger fenders would eliminate the paint concers. :D But that's a CLEAN ride! I don't remember it lifted in those pics you posted |

Re: I promised pics(Here they are)
Thanks for all the comments guys! I put the HD tierods on and the steering stabilizer and it actually drives better than it did stock.
You're right motorsports authority, I just had the truck lifted. That's why I was asking about wheels. Thanks again for the photochop help! The backspacing on the wheels is only 4.5 inches. That is the least that you can run with that lift. I'm not real sure what the offset is. I want to say -19. I'm in Gatlinburg, Tn right now and drove it here from ATL and got 12.5 MPG.:clapping: |
Re: I promised pics(Here they are)

I've just gotten into wheelin'. The wife and I were talking about making a trip to Tellico, but I have never been offroad that much. I think that it might be over my skill level right now. She is certainly going to get dirty:D What part of ATL are you in? I live around the mall of Georgia area. I guess that is more metro Atlanta. |
