ONSTAR REMOVAL
 
is it possable to remove the onstar set up out of the dash on my h2 can anyone help as it is no use over here to me and i keep catching the button on the wheel and setting it off

Pull the fuse. Check the manual for where that fuse is.

yes i was going to do that but i want to remove the unit and put a little tray thingy in its place

I could be wrong. I used to work at On*Star, I believe that the brains for the On*star are tied into the computer for the vehicle. I don't believe it is as easy as just removing it... Maybe I am wrong. I probably am. So just rip it out, take the fuse out, leave the harnesses in the dash

You were right, you were wrong.:D

You can just pull out the whole module and chunk it. Several people here have done it and used the space for an in dash CD changer along with Nav and other things.

If you do a search, you can find where some people have actually moved the buttons also and used the spot for something else.

I believe you guys. Im sure you have done it.....

How is it not integrated with the ECU? I mean On*Star does diagnostic checks, it has to be linked somewhere...

The VCIM (Onstar module) is connected to the BCM via a class 2 circuit.

I took it out. No effects on the computer, placed the Navi disc unit ther:clapping:e
