E85 production rise

E85 production is on the rise in Colorado:

Ethanol producers in Colorado are racing to open as many as seven new E-85 production plants.

9NEWS Consumer Reporter Mark Koebrich says producers are certain they can regularly under-cut gas prices if they can just produce enough of the corn based fuel.

They also have the hurdle of not having enough pumps. There are only about a dozen of them in Colorado currently and with Detroit rolling out thousands of flex-fuel cars that run on gas or Ethanol, it is a big problem for them.

The growers say they do know that consumers love their fuel and will buy it if their cars will burn it, and if they can find it.

I really would like E85 to work. I know it would help out a lot of farmers. Were I'm from farming is 97% of the local economy.

I guess that E85 H3 will probably only show up in the V8 version?

Unless someone makes an E85 conversion kit for the I5, I bet you're right.

GM has been one of the largest producers of E85-capable vehicles but E85 pumps are few and far between. Now that demand is rising, availability is rising too and pricess will start to drop.

A lot of folks don't like E85 ... I know it has less energy per gallon than gasoline for one thing. But anything that reduces our dependence on foreign oil can't be all bad. It's a great fuel for commuters and vehicle applications that don't need the extra power of gasoline.
