Winch and Warranty

Hi All,

Thinking of adding a winch (when I get the cash). This is a lease vehicle so if I can release or buy new cheaper than buying this one I will need to move the winch.

My two questions are what all will a winch void in terms of the warranty, I'm guessing perhaps the battery if there is an issue down the road.

Am I better off having the dealer install the winch (electronics) \ if they will?

Being a lease I more, shall be say anal retentive than if it was my own vehicle. I know odds are I won't have a problem but I'd hate to be screwed when my lease comes up for some stupid reason.

Any tips, I won't hold you to it, would be great!

Re: Winch and Warranty

I wouldn't think it would void anything as long as it's installed and wired correctly. My dealer has seen mine and even replaced a blown alternator megafuse under warranty caused by my mistake in wiring the winch to the wrong buss.

Most dealers will install aftermarket parts so ask them.

Cheers,

Agree....
But some dealers may pass a bad battery off on the winch. If you plan on using it a lot, I would suggest getting a deep cycle battery and save any possible problems.
