Ice Possible display

I own a 2005 H2 SUT. I love the truck but recently everytime I start the vehicle ; the display on the dash reads ICE POSSIBLE. It stays on for about 10 seconds and then goes off. It will also pop up sporatically while driving. The temp outside has never been below 55 when this happens. The dealership is looking into it but says they have never seen it before. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this. I would love to get this stopped. Is there a dedicated sensor that detects only the outside temp. I haven't notices any other problems as of yet.

Mine usually comes on when the temp is around 37 degrees F. It comes on and says ICE POSSIBLE on the DIC, and on the rearview mirror it will say ICE. It will come on periodically when driving too. In the Northwest, the elevation changes so much that the temp goes up and down a lot. I've never seen it happen at 55 degrees tho.

I have a 2005 also.

What does the owners manual say?

Bad Mirror or sensor....Mirrors were common for awhile.

Appreciate the imput guys. You may be on to something Big Z. I had a navigation system installed (eclipse) and a backup camera intergrated along with it. They ran a wire from the camera control up and merging onto a wire on the rearview mirror. This was done in order for the camera to come on automatically when put in reverse. Are you saying the the rearview mirror could be the cause of this problem. It is definitely not the weather. I am in Charleston SC, and the it has been in the upper 60's most of the week. Says ice possible everytime I start the vehicle. Thanks again. I would welcome any additional opinions or knowledge on the subject.

Re: Ice Possible display

the temp displayed mirror has only a two wire circuit that runs to an ambient temp sensor. a little electrical lesson heat causes resistance, cooler temp has less resistance. voltage goes to path with less resistance, causing less heat, showing ice display. so one of the two wires is connected to something it doesn't need to be or it could be grounding out some place in the positive wire going to the temp sensor, u said it flashes ice while driving.

You need to acknowledge the ice warning by pressing the arrow button on the steering wheel. You may have to be quick, since it has to be on to acknowledge. Mine did the same thing above freezing, until I finally caught it and pressed the button. This also goes for any other trouble warnings.

Yes. Bring 10,000 gallons of water to a rolling boil. Immerse your H2 for at least 5 minutes, uncovered, over a medium high heat. That will do it. Please post photos.

Do you have a Neucleus NC-X2i attached for your Ipod ? That thing makes everything wacky on my dash.
