Lets see your survival gear.
What does everyone have for survival gear. I have always thought i was Rambo and could live forever in a emergency situation . But it wouldnt be to hard to throw in a tupperware box full of safety stuff . What is good stuff to have on hand? And do most carry survival gear of any type with them? Could you make it stranded for 7 days in the heat or snow? Doug

Re: Lets see your survival gear.
We have a lot of stuff and don't go out in the snow due to our location: First aid kit, tools, lighter, knife, axe....stuff we have gathered if in an emergency while out on the trail.
but I found these tips in an article about the recent story.:)

We pack our Go bags depending on the who/what/when/where. If you are in S. Texas you are not preparing exactly as you do if you are in Maine. It's just like I pack up my truck differently to go wheel in Grayrock AL than I do in Katemcy Rocks in Texas. Minimum I keep MREs, knifes, lighters, first aid, basic tools and some type of extra clothing. All that is in my truck at all times smushed and shoved into different places. The additions, depend on what and where we are going. |

I have used these around the world. Only place I never had a signal was in the boonies of Indonesia. Besides the price for air time they are a life saver. |

Thanks for all the ideas. I am going to put together a kit for our vehicles. Right now I only have a leatherman knife . :o I dont even carry the spare tire in the H2 . Twice in 22 years I have been stuck in snow and had to spend the night in a camp . But have always been able to get out the next day from shoveling or snow vehicles pulling me out. This is a pic of one time we got stuck. We were driving where we shouldnt have been , but camp was real close. We got stuck and stayed the night at camp. The next day we spent most of the day shoveling out. I also ruined the tread of the tires spinning them .

Re: Lets see your survival gear.
Those are some great tips on what to keep in your truck
I was snowed in an old VW bug for about 24hrs. All we had left after our backpacking trip was some cheese nip crackers, honey and Southern Comfort. Not the best survival food. Now if we had some MRE's, Beef Jerky and Jack Daniels we would have been fine! |
