bad grinding when braking

took my H3 in about 2 months ago, thought it was the brakes. it's the front diff and it gets gradually louder as time goes by. I think it's killing my MPG too I'm down to 12-13 city and 15 hwy (I have big tires and they will take the blame but I got closer to 17 with them before) They say there's no fix, GM is working on one. Anyone else experience this??
