Back Up Camera... AGAIN !
I looked in search (and may have missed it)
BUT I purchased a Wireless BackUp Camera Sys at Costco for $90.00. The screen part is easy but the Camera altho wireless still needs power. It comes with the wires connected to the camera and I want to rig it to my wire harness just before (i think) the trailer plug in the rear (i have trailering pkg) Which wires do I tap in to: #1 for camera ON all the time #2 for camera on only when I go to reverse I really would like the camera on all the time (while engine is running, assuming all power goes off when key is removed) SO Any experts here to help? AND Thank you in advance... RYD |

If you remove the plastic casing around the wiring harness, sometimes there is a label that tells you which color wire is which power feed. As for which wire.... Oh, um, use the red wire I think, which would be the battery feed? I think that's the wire with power at all times. Just hook a saddle connector on to it and it should be good to go. However, I think someone else's confirmation of this would be a good idea.... :D |
Re: Back Up Camera... AGAIN !
I saved this from a older thread I think F5 listed it.

Re: Back Up Camera... AGAIN !
Read the warnings and packaging. The wireless one I bought (which I ended up returning for other reasons) said specifically "DO NOT WIRE THE CAMERA TO STAY ON ALL THE TIME. IT WILL OVERHEAT AND BURN UP". Don't know if it's true but beware.;)

The light green one is the one to use. It will turn the camera AND the monitor on when you shift into reverse. |
Re: Back Up Camera... AGAIN !
Fstop wrote me the information in the tech sectiona few weeks ago but i do not remember what the thread was listed as. Let me know how the camera installs and looks.
