After making the rock rails for my Hummer I noticed another pretty weakly designed part. Im going to call it the lower trailing arm, I dont know if that is the correct name or not. The link is in a vunerable spot and looks like it wouldn't take much abuse. I noticed I had already scuffed it pretty deep w/o even dragging it over a rock. This "problem" was cheep and easy to remedy with some 1/4 inch angle fit and welded as a support (and a smooth sliding surface) on the open end of the arm. Here are some before and after pictures. This should also offer alot of side to side support. At any rate it's one less thing to worry about on the trail .

Can you give a pic from the same angle so we can see the before and after. Can't tell much other than you painted it black.

The "U" of the arm is now sealed off with the angle iron. Look at the last picture he posted and you can see the angle irons vertex pointing down.

Drty, you gotta get rid of that apple . Sorry about that, I should have taken the photo before I painted them, black kinda kills the dimension (guess thats why the big girls like that color or lack of color, whatever ). Here's one I brightened up taken from the same angle.

Already on it. As you know, I dinged up my frame pretty good, so this has been in the back of my mind since then. I'd like to discuss my idea, but there's another fabricator or two lurking about, and this is my Preciousssss.

How in the world did you get the picture? What is holding the front end up?

I think it's great he's willing to keep laying his vehicle on its side to get those other pictures.

No Limits! You're Never Stuck in a Hummer!

LPEH2, its easy to lift the Hummer if you have the right stuff , I wouldn't suggest getting under it though. It works well for show & tell but it doesn't replace a rack.
