New Platform for C/C and H3 in the works?
One of the more common complaints about the GMT355-based trucks (Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Hummer H3) is their lack of power. When the H3 debuted, there were rumblings of the 5.3L V8 being slid into its butched-to-the-max bodywork. Unfortunately, someone forgot to measure the transmission

Re: New Platform for C/C and H3 in the works?
I would agree the H3 absolutely needs more power, like 250 HP would be about right.

Re: New Platform for C/C and H3 in the works?
Does this mean that a bigger engine for 08 is off?

Re: New Platform for C/C and H3 in the works?
300+ with 37" tires would be even better.
I love my H3, I sometimes miss my LS1 WS6/TA though. |

8 HP would not make that big of a difference....:twak: |
Re: New Platform for C/C and H3 in the works?
I was kinda hoping the H3 would get a little more power in for 08. A Pathfinder with a 4.0L 270 hp V6 weighing almost the same as the H3 can get 16/23 mpg and is still pretty quick(0-60 in 7-8secs) for an SUV. The H3 obviously performs better off road and looks a hell of a lot better, but with those stats would be a dream. Keep on dreaming I guess....

Re: New Platform for C/C and H3 in the works?
THey should shoot for 300hp 285 ft/tq.
Keep the 33" tire size as standard with a car like tread for the lux and a more aggressive AT for the off road package. (get rid of the 32" tire). Front locker option added to the off road package wold be nice too.:twak: |

:iagree: I'd love that set up. I'll put my own big tires on. |

Who said it wasn't getting a V8 in 2008?:beerchug: I cannot say, at this time, yes or no. All I can say is wait about three months, and you will get the answer. As for the original posting, I was just making note of the comment about a V8 and a six speed auto being what the General wants for their small trucks. I have reasonable doubt as to whether or not this statement is correct about that combo.:D |
Re: New Platform for C/C and H3 in the works?
I'm just wondering if there will be a "GREEN" color when the H4 comes out. Like when the H2 and H3 first came out.

How about somwhere in the range of 302 HP and 330 lbs of torque?:beerchug: |
Re: New Platform for C/C and H3 in the works?
A V8 would put the tree huggers into quite a little bitch fit. That right there alone will make it worth trading my baby in for.

Now you are talking Marketing "talk," and there is no telling what colors they will come up with next. I would put in a good word for you, but I have blasted them for not allowing Sunset Orange to be across the board on all H3s, so I'm sure they only delete my emails.:clapping: |

But a V8 might actually obtain better mileage, and it might have the tree huggers faked out with E85 capability.:clapping: |

I don't know about that F5. I have never seen so much hate for one vehicle nameplate in my life. It was one of the biggest reasons I became interested in buying a Hummer. |
Re: New Platform for C/C and H3 in the works?
This forum is :lame: without F5! Thank's for all the info's. :perfect10s:

The Hummer name does bring out a lot of hate, but equally so, a lot of curiosity. Sad to say, some of the hate comes from other people who drive off-road type vehicles such as Jeep, Toyota, etc., which get no better fuel mileage. As for fuel mileage...look at the Escalade and the mileage it gets this year with a large engine? Active fuel management does increase highway miles. On another note, IF, they release a V8 in 2008, the sticker will show less mileage than the current 3.7L, then again, the 2008 3.7L will show less mileage than the 2007 3.7L engine. The auto manufacturers have to go to the new rating system next year. That will shave about 12 percent off the current sticker fuel mileage figures. So, a 20 mpg rating now will be around 17-18 mpg next year. |
