Those are some nice looking deer. Most people from TX have told me that deer do not get any bigger than the size of german shepards. Those look like they are about 200 lbs or so. Nice shot.

Holy crap. Those are some NICE looking boys. The area my parents live in has two 12+ pointers running around, either one would look great hanging on the wall of my house. But, there is a no hunting ordinance so the only option is to hunt them in the truck (I'm kidding....Kind of). I've only had the opportunity once, and I can tell you there is a reason his spread is so big, only deer I have ever seen run away from a vehicle.

When they told you that, did they also tell you that we have big german shepards around here.;)

Ya know I bet those are the tamed hand feed stud bucks they have in a pin on a "managed" ranch and they just drugged them all and lined them up to take a photo.

I dont see any blood anywhere... looks too clean to me...

I was just by there yesterday on my way back from Brownwood. We gave up counting H2s and starting counting dead deer on the side of the road. Saw 8 in a 40 mile stretch.

ummm..... I guess you don't hunt much

While those are likely deer from a high-fenced ranch south of Dallas, most of the time when one poses with one's trophy deer, you remove any blood from the mouth that might show up and tuck the tongue back inside for the picture. It makes for a better photo.

Lol, ya I have shot more than I can count. I have never seen anyone take the time to wipe a dead deers mouth for a photo opportunity.. hahaha That there is funny...

Maybe I am just jealous, as I have never shot one beyond a 22 inch inner spread. ;)

Let me just go on to say that those are far beyond nice.. I also suspect that the people that shot them didnt gut them either.. I bet they had a ranch hand mexi to do that for them... =)

look up Antler Ranch and you will find where those were likely taken. Sad.

Yep, as suspected these are pets.. but OMFG they are huge!!!

Just curios, what do they charge to shoot one of those caged bucks? I would like to give my father a hunt as he never had a trophy whitetail. hes had a few B&C Bull Elks though and one B&C Muley. But never a white tail.

Did you see the pics of the "Highlander" omfg... that would give you buck fever like a mofo...

It's a breeding farm, so to for that hunt, I'm guessing I could buy an H2 and H3 for what that cost.

not my kind of hunting.

If just anyone with enough $$$ can go fire off a round and take a B&C class deer, what's the point. I like to grow my own, naturally, w/o fences, gene manipulation, etc.

Instead of a deer, pay to have your dad go take a rhino or a giraffe or something.... you can pay to take those in Texas on some of those ranches also.:(

Well thats exaclty how I feel as well hence you can see me poking at it a little. We have never ever gone on a "pay per buck" kinda hunt and only taken leases ourselves for several years to develop them into something. But in most cases we only find out that the land owner and his sons and friends of his sons are out there spot lighting at night on the feeders and winter grass fields shooting the biggest bucks.

It has been that way sine i was a child hence we quit huntng white tail about 10 yrs ago and only went to Colorado or NM for Elk and Muleys.

It just seems that unless you own the property and live on it or have someone live on it - when you get some good stock someone will come cherry pick it for you without your knowlege until you catch them red handed.. I wish I could tell you here on the internet what happens to them when we catch them... :giggling:

But in any case, my dad is getting old now and isnt wanting to spend the time into a new lease and it would be nice to just "pay to shot a pet" trophy so he could have "a huge one" in his life.. but honestly I dont think he would even do it - I would have to ask him first.

As much as I would like to shoot one like those, I would have to completly lie my as s off to people when they asked me where I shot it. I would be so ashamed to say it was on a ranch like that. Maybe if I took it with my bow it would feel better but still.. I think you understand what I mean.

HAHA well the only thing I have ever killed with a knife was a wild boar. I will NEVER do this again. But one of my rough neck buddies in college took me on a hunt down in East TX and they used 3-6 (depending on the hog) Pit Bulls that wore bullet proof canvas vests and would pin a boar by grabbing on to his nose, ears and rear feet/lower legs. Once they had him he was pretty much stretched out screaming like a scared school girl. All I had to do was walk up and cut his throat... was the most terrifying thing I have ever done because you know if he gets loose its YOUR A$$!!:excited:

Re: I'm ready to go back to Katemcy

Actuallly yea he does have more balls because he only gets one shot and if he doesnt kill it right off or the boar turns to run away he is toast. If that boar charges after being shot he will likely not live unless he has someone to help deter the boar from mauling him. Some boars want to run and some want to fight when they are in a sort of conflict it just depends on the one you get really.

There is another guy on this forum that I KNOW - knows about these kind of Pit Bull / Hog Hunts - his name is Klint. He was the guy that recently totalled his red H3. I went hunting outside the city he lives in. I also attended the very back woods "Hog Dog Trials" there and it was the most exciting thing I have ever seen in my life by way of raw brute force competition. Highly illegal but the funnest and most exciting by far.

The Hog Dog Trials is a rodeo of sorts where are a small rodeo arena is setup including stands sometimes or just pull out a lawn cahir in the back of your truck and watch as the fury begins.

The competition was to see whos pit pull could single handedly pin a full grown male wild boar the fastest. Yes sir, single handedly. They would release the boar from one side from a calf like shoot and then the dog handler would release his Pit from his collar and the war was on. It was absolutly amazing to see how fast a smart experienced pit bull could take down a HUGE 300-400 lb wild boar in a matter of seconds. Yes, sometimes the pit didnt win and thats when things got crazy... I cant tell you what would happen when a dog got into trouble but lets just say everyone there made sure he came out alright. :D

Now havign said all of that - and having 3-4 pits on a boar you are MUCH safer but still there is always that chance that his skin tears and he gets free - then you better run like heellllll :excited:

Here is a vid of some pits on a hog and somone stabs it with a knife to kill it.

Granted this is a small hog but none the less very dangerous!

Warning this vid is a bit hard core if you dont like violence
