Brakes
I found it amazing that I just had my brakes checked and they are still in great shape. They are the original set. My rig is an 03 with 74K on it. Its lifted with very heavy tires and wheels. :excited:
Anyone else had this good luck with their brakes? |

Neighbor across street has 100k miles and original brakes on an 03. He scratches his head each time he goes in for any service and they tell him they are ok. |
Re: Brakes
Dealer told me my brakes were down to 30% at 19K, but at the 25K they were 80%.....so go figure. I'm going with the higher number.
Only 28K on my 03. Stacy |
Re: Brakes
Had mine checked on my 03 at 52k and said they were fine.:beerchug:

Re: Brakes
Great Post!
I find that I have to push the pedal down pretty far and thought my brakes were going...I'll have to get'em checked. I have an '03 with 57K and the original brakes and was wondering how long they might last...now I don't feel bad being lazy in getting them checked out. -Matt |
Re: Brakes
just coming up on 36K had it serviced brakes had 10mm left

Re: Brakes
Just went past 70k and had them checked for wear.....the brake shop said the ceramic pads they put on these beasts are lasting about 130k day in and day out!
Wow...for such a heavy truck.....that is awesome! |
Re: Brakes
Interesting. They did something right with the brakes! I've got 70K with no sign of replacement (aside from some scoring). I notice that the brake pedal has a bit more play than it used to. And my parking brake is about as effective as letting the car roll into park lock... :D

Re: Brakes
Here you go, I don't stock brakes for H2 or the H3.I have sold them for warranty issues but never to a customer pay service order.
IMO they need to change the design because I won't be able to afford collage payment's if they don't!!!;) H1 is a horse of a different colour.maybe 8-12k just like the Chevy Malibu.:beerchug: |
Re: Brakes
my avalanches were good on brakes too....but the silverado trucks were awful....only about 18K on a pair with those trucks....i have 10K on the H2 and they are great!

Re: Brakes
THe brakes are unbelievable! My 03 has 108,000 miles and the brakes are still stock. And i tow heavy stuff. Unlike my chevy pickups that need brakes quite often.

Re: Brakes
I had the H2 in for a check up at the Dealership in September, the front breaks were at 40% and the back were at 50%. I have 62,000 on the 03 H2. I have done a lot of Off Roading with it.

Re: Brakes
55k miles and brakes still work. Unfortunately, they still squeal.... :(

Re: Brakes
I know this is an older thread that seems to have stopped back in February, but I just wanted to add something here for those who are still searching the forum for more brake experiences. Every year that I have owned my 2003 H2 I have asked my mechanic if he is sure the brakes pass inpection. The reason I ask is because like others here in the forum, my brake pedal goes pretty far down and I have 75K miles on her. As of today, I took my H2 in for yet another inspection and the mechanic said he doubts he would need to replace them given how much was left on the pads from last year. However, I told him to replace them anyway because my rotors seem to have warped (I get surging motion when I hit the brakes now...very typical of warped rotors) and I figure it is best to match up new pads with new (or cut) rotors.
My question is: how much should the new brake pads cost? And how much do you think new (or cut) rotors will cost? |
