TORSION BAR PICTURES
Since no one that I know of has posted pics of the actual torsion bar Job getting done I figured it would be a nice post to have.
TBAR INSTRUCTIONS. The front bar adjustments are located roughly under the divider between the front and rear doors--it is a bolt that is 1 1/16th inch. Measure from ground to bottom of fender BEFORE turning, then jack it up, turn CLOCKWISE the number of turns you want, then set down--remeasure.
***NOTE*** YOU MUST THEN GET IT ALIGNED. I would use at leas a 21" 3 Ton Jack a bit overkill on the tonage but you need the height. Also no standard socket set has the 1 1/16 Socket so go to Sears and spend $10.69 on the socket. I would buy the DEEP socket as well for you will need the leverage. Make sure you have a breaker bar handy, the first two turns are pretty easy but the last 1/2 a turn is a bear. Make sure you have the truck tires off the ground in the front during the TBAr nut turn or it is next to impossible to turn the bolt.
This was a very easy Job. We did three trucks in less than 1 hour. The funny thing is in each truck the passenger side was nearly 1 inch lower (Stock Height) SO much for Hummer Engineering ;-) But than again thats what makes them Hummers..... Good Luck :0
JACK LOCATION TBAR BOLT LOCATION TBAR BOLT Make sure you mark the bolts with a sharpie and turn CLOCKWISE. The 35's 315/75 R 16 BFG Mudd Terrain. I am trading in my 33" Toyo Open Country M/T's :-( |

Re: TORSION BAR PICTURES
Can I ask why you're switching from Toyo's to BFG's?
|
Re: TORSION BAR PICTURES
The Cost and I feel a little better ride. I paid $800 for BFG M/T Installed. The BFG 35's" are nearly $300 cheaper and at least just as good of tire than the TOYOS. I have had the BFG M/T'S on all 3 of my H2'S and had great success off-road. I really like the TOYO'S look better but for $300 bucks I'll take the BFG'S.

Re: TORSION BAR PICTURES
cool, i was just curious as i LOVE BFG's but i'm now in an area where we get a lot of snow and ice and the lack of siping on the BFGs is a concern for me. The Toyo's are more expensive, but in the end I would rather pay a little more for the better ice traction which probably isn't an issue for you. post pics when you get them on

Re: TORSION BAR PICTURES
Was that 800.00 for 5 of them? If so, killer deal!
I hope you have 5 that are the same size. |
Re: TORSION BAR PICTURES
All 5 for $970. $800 was for the set of 4. Yes I have all the same size tire, even the spare:giggling:
