Monongahela Nat'l Forest

A couple of friends and I were thinking of a punitive weekend expedition there sometime in February or March, involving Hummers; semi-automatic weapons(*); bonfires; steaks; beer; cigars; goose down; big dome tents; propane; etc?

Anyone interested?

Maybe here: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=38.41957&lon=-79.72224&datum=nad27&u=4&layer=DRG25&size=m&s=100

Or here: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=38.47558&lon=-79.728&s=100&size=m&u=4&datum=nad27&layer=DRG25

Or here: http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=38.55279&lon=-79.70542&s=100&size=m&u=4&datum=nad27&layer=DRG25

Or wherever ?

*: I talked to the Mon. National Forest guys, who confirmed that it is legal to shoot responsibly out there, like in Colorado but unlike in the GWNF.

Cool. I'll probably start out with this thing:

what rifle is that? 223 or a 308? I see you have a holoscope on it.

Do you have any experience with laser sights? I am looking to add one to my Glock 17, i like the idea of the lasermax which replaces the guide rod.

.308. It's a modified M1A Enhanced Battle Rifle: http://www.tacticalshotgun.ca/conten...od_review.html

I think you will find better advice about laser sights from others here, as I do no own one. Perhaps PhilD?;)

It sounds like girls aren't allowed. I guess I'll have to arrange a co-ed at Humpadumpalumma Nat'l.;):D

My dad has an H&K .308 rifle, i think it an HK91. Its fun to shoot. I mainly stick with the pistols.

EoTech's are outstanding holographic sights. I have a couple myself.

I also have two C-more's that I've had for years, the batteries are a bigger pain in the ass, but the accuracy is as good as the EoTech's and Aimpoints.

Nice .308

I have a Robar 700 Remington action. It doesn't look as nice and it's not gas operated, but it will hold sub-minute of angle groups all day at several hundred meters. It is a blast shooting clay pigeons placed on an incline three hundred meters away.

Girls are always encouraged to attend these types of events. Humpadumpalumma NF is nowhere near as cool as the Mongo place.

I read someone on here say something like "I have a pistol so that I can get to my rifle."

Actually, I like both.

We will look into making it.:)

I love camping. Hopefully it won't be too cold.

Cool. I don't have any specific time frame in mind. I just want to get out and do some fun wheeling, camping, etc. out in the wild before I make the economically hazardous decision of quitting my job and moving back to Colorado, where the National Forests are almost endless.

Not too sure we'll make that one. It's in WV afterall and that's just alittle scary.

Yes, I know it wasn't filmed in WV, but is there really a difference between GA rednecks, SC rednecks, and WV rednecks?:shhh:

I don't think so. But, thankfully, there is a difference between the 5,000-year-old weapon used by Burt in that movie and the types of weapons I plan on bringing should the inbreeders attempt to descend on us.

It's supposed to be getting warmer now. Looking forward to some camping!

Me too. Though I'm probably looking at mid-March because of three unexpected trips I must take before then. Does that sound good?
