Faded Bumper Plastics..
 

Whats good for renewing the look to the bumper and other plastics that have faded. My door handles and wheel well trims are still perfect, but the bumper plastics have faded. Armorall does OK, but anyone used anything better?

Forever Black is another product. Lots of places carry it like AutoBarn, Amazon, etc.

I tried Mother's Back to Black product and it sucked.

I've never said that about any other Mother's product and I use a lot of them (billet, clay bar, wax, ect).

Do a search on here, one remedy is peanut oil but I've yet to try that. The official factory response is to use a product called Armardillo (sp?) with a one time appplication allowed under warranty. Still sucks that a 60K+ vehicle has trim fade issues this soon into it's product life.

I haven't noticed the trim fading as much as it did on the BMW's I once drove. They faded almost immediately. I think the trim on the H2 is pretty good in comparison.

I use mother's back to black, it works great. Seems like it will wash off after a wash or two though. But it does make the plastic look like new and it just wipes on. Very easy to use.

:iagree: I didn't put it on heavy the first time I used it so after a few drive through washes and it was back to crap. This time I used it I used a whole bottle and just soaked the crap out of anything black and let it sit for about 15 mins, then I took a shop rag and rubbed it in real good leaving a pretty soaked/wet finish. It has been gloss black for a month now, even after a few washes and rains!:dancingbanana:

The dealerships use armordillo for warranty fading. I had the dealer apply the amordillo on my truck and it didnt last for 2 or 3 washes but rather 3 or 4 months. Since then ive bought it online and it works like a dream. Ive used back to black and it pales in comparison to the armordillo.

I tried this for its intended purpose - wax, and didn't care for it. BUT, it is the best stuff I've ever used on trim. Goes on very easily and needs little, if any, wiping afterwards. Plus, if you get any on the paint it's no big deal - just wipe it off.

The best thing I have found that works great is, Turtle Wax Professional Tire Dressing. It gives it a very deep wet shine look. And it last for a long time.

I also use the Mothers Back to Black, when I use it I put some on at every washing.

But what happens if you get it on the paint or windows? I'm telling you - try the ICE.

Stop using ArmorAll, it has mineral spirits in it that will fade your plastics. Why it's allowed to be on the market........

I had a Wrangler that got these white spots on the fenders (same type of material) because I didn't know any better. Now that I know, I will never use ArmorAll again.

I also use the ICE from Turtle Wax. Works good.

Get a pro to paint it to color match or just black. Color match looks really good and just seems to add to the prestige of the monster. It just seems to make it look what we paid for them instead of the low end plastic that is used. When You wax You just get it out of gaps and no paint to worry about. Even if You paint trim black waxing still works.

There have been several good recomendations to use mentioned and cost less.

Anybody tried using ICE on the interior plastic? I know some people who have used it on the exterior with good results, just never really gave the interior any thought.

Krylon Fusion (made for plastics) is a good permanent solution. Protectorants, no matter what the brand, are going to just wash off. As far as a protectorant goes, I like Just Once (justonce.com).

I've never used their particular reconditioning product for faded plastic, but Griot's Garage makes one. All of their stuff, with the exception of their water blade, has been great. Just Google Griot's Garage. Lifetime warranty on all products. Nice people.:perfect10s:

Armor-All SUCKS. It'll dry out your leather, etc. STP makes a similiar product that does not.

Personally, I don't like all that slick, shiny, sloppy crap on my vehicles... I don't use any kind of dressing.
