Look, I can easily narrow it down to down to Linderman tho:

In the pic from the preview below, the father is wearing TWO rings. A wedding band and a class ring or something similar. Nathan doesn't wear two rings.

HRG doesn't wear purple, EVER, so he's not the father.

We've seen the character, or had the character referenced on the SHOW, not just the comics, so the new character, HRG's boss, Thompson as played by Eric Roberts is out. (Vashna from IMBD says the father is Thompson)

Wireless is out.

The black men are out.

The shirt is button down dress, so Isaac, Sylar, Peter, and Claude are out.

Linderman is left and it'd be a great way to introduce him to us.

HOWEVER, of the two rings on the father's hand, one is a freaking wedding band and the watch is exactly like Nathan's.

We also have to remember that if it's Nathan, it'll really bring him into the Heroes family and will mean he'll probably take a more active roll in saving his brother.

BTW, Malcom McDowell is Linderman.

And now that I think about it some more, maybe her dad can't fly. Would someone running for office wear a purple shirt?

Maybe, Ask Ausiello ran a pic of him in a pink shirt.

Also, Nathan was in the military according to his ad, so the ring is obviously an award type ring he received.

Some gal with E! said Peter and Claire wouldn't hook up because it'd be wrong.

Edit: More thoughts on Nathan:
In the promo, Nathan is in his car with a crack in the window and Claire is hiding behind a car with a rock in her hand. Humm, chuck a rock at daddy to get a look at him?

Nathan was abducted by HRG and his mind wasn't wiped. HRG knows Linderman and Nathan.

Everyone that works for Linderman, I think has a ring. DL had a ring, Nathan borrowed money from him and got a ring, HRG has a ring.

Nathan has had an affair with Niki/Jessica so nothing says he couldn't have done it before with Meredith, Claire's mom.

Daddy Petrelli probably had something to do with all this stuff. I bet he got Claire away from Meredith and into the hands of HRG.

We'll see.

Ok, last post on this subject for me today:

The man in the preview is Nathan, but the call from Meredith is intended for his father! Father Petrelli has only been dead about 6 months, so she probably didn't even know he was dead. The family still lives in the same old house and she didn't notice it was Nathan on the phone since the two guys are similar.

So, what have I gained by thinking this all through? Nathan makes sense, but the show gains nothing from it.

Father Petrelli would be a pretty cool choice.

Linderman is the one that makes the most sense to me, tho. Bad guy's daughter and sweet cheerleader Claire. That'd be a fun Thanksgiving.
