Fun in Georgetown Colorado
Hi all,
I am new to the site and wanted to share my experience with the new H3 today. Other than some snow, today was the first time I was able to get a little off of the beaten path. I'll post some pics and a link to my site with some video footage. Enjoy! Nick http://web.mac.com/nicholaslyle/iWeb...0Tabby/H3.html ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Be carefull of what you ask for, or you will have a front yard full of Hummers. :jump: |

You can run a lot of the trails in Moab straight off the showroom floor. But here's what I'd do - Lose the steps, add rock rails and the UCP. If you have the base model, upgrade your tires. Quote:
There's a bunch of folks on here from CO. Check the events section. BTW, welcome and nice pics. :beerchug: |
Re: Fun in Georgetown Colorado
Rails, Under Carriage Protection. Remove steps when going off road...easy to do.

Re: Fun in Georgetown Colorado
Thanks for the info and the warm welcome. I'll check out the events section for sure. I'm glad to find some hummer owners that are a little more down to earth and friendlier than some of the owners at yesterdays event. Most of them seemed full of themselves. It's about good people and not so much about ego's. Well maybe some ego, but not enought to obstruct a good time. Anyho...
Any suggegtions on retailers/links for the rock rails, ucp, and tires? I'm sure some of this is subject to personal opinion, but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks all! Nick |
Re: Fun in Georgetown Colorado
also, in regards to the side steps.. my co-driver is 4'11" and it helps having that extra step to get in. Any suggestions for equipment other than the steps we have?

It's tradition for the "New Guy" to hold the HUMMER Dinner. :giggling: Yeah, there's a dozen or so of us that get together for wheelin and dinners in the metro area. The next time will be the day before everyone heads to Moab I'm sure. We'll be taking our H2 and H3 this year. The H3's do very well in Moab. just make sure to get the Rock Rails and factory UCP protection before you head out. Although there are pleanty of trails to do without that stuff, all it takes is one wrong line and your banging off of some rock or ledge. Better safe than sorry. Do you have the off road susp (LOCKER)? If so, get the potection parts, a spare tie rod and your set. most of us have enough tools and mechanical skilZ to get by if something does happen. don;t pay retail for the GM stuff either. Send me a PM when you get a chance and I can point you in the "cheaper" dirrection. Oh, one more thing, you can wheel all over Moab and NOT trash your rig. Many (most) of the trails have optional ways around and we all take time to spot through the difficult stuff. |

I do not have the "Locker" and to the best of my knowlege its the base model H3 in terms of suspension. We had a blast just playing a little bit yesturday and look forward to future events. thanks again, Nick |
