Is there any drilling required for the gm rock rails?

Not as far as I know. I dont think you have to drill for the rocky road rails either. Maybe check those out too, they are reasonbly priced and I read on here that the factory slider are a joke. :beerchug:

Where'd you read that. It is false! I've chrashed down on them with the entire weight of the H3 and they didn't bend in the slightests. And they use (4) point attatchment while Rock Road uses 3. I think you ment that the manik ones are a joke.

and there is no drilling required. However, 2 of the holes are sometimes covered by the lable of the frame.

I stand corrected, I did mean the manik ones. I read about those getting smashed up into the door panels. Can you post some pics of the factory ones, or the ones you are referring too. I am ordering some this week, and was going the RR route, but yours sound convincing. Thanks for the clarification. :beerchug:

Well I still have the ghey lux steps on there, not having rails is the only thing keeping me from pounding it good.

The Manik's are junk, stay away. The GM rails are solid but will still bend/dent if abused. Trust me. ;) The RR rails are pretty solid and stick out farther than the GM ones, but only use 3 supports. Definitely a decent option compared to the GM rails.

X2. I love my GM rails. Many of us remember what happens to Maniks when you use them for their intended purpose...

the GM ones are great! I've slammed onto rocks, ledges, and no bends yet. I do have one little dent, but that was really slamming down on it.

X2 I love my GM's also, but Bab's RR's were pretty cool and sturdy.

I opted for the RR rails. Even with only 3 attachment points they are quite sturdy to the frame and seem very strong.

An added bonus for me is that, though a bit tricky, they can be used as an assist step as well (they are higher than a typical step or bar and angled slightly up.)

If you were considering purchasing the GM rails and assist steps, you would save a decent amount of $$ going with the RR rails if you can live with the unconventional step.

This was a factor in my choice because the bride prefers a step and I was not looking foward to removing the GM assist steps every time I went offroad.

My thoughts exactly, having a vertically challenged wife myself, something of a step would be convenient. :beerchug:

Man, RR is getting proud of those rock rails!! They are up to $419 now.:confused: I sure hope that their quality has improved with the price. When I bought my set, they were $369. The challenge is getting a set that will actually match up to the mounting holes on the H3 and getting the correct bolts. Mine weren't even close, so I returned them and got my money back. I am going with the GM ones or I may have a set custom made by a local shop by me.

I just don't have the bank roll but the others are stronger. If you got the money honey then buy the best.

Oh, sure you mean these????

I love them. They work great so far. I haven't been off road too much since they were put on. But as far as functionality goes, my kids love them, I love them, and my clients love them.
