Rear Hatch Struts on tailgate of an H2

Anyone have any idea as to how to disconnect these from the tailgate? I just need to disconnect them, add chrome covers over them and then reattach them. I know you guys hate bling, but I couldn't pass up the deal at Moss Motors..Da Brute
