Bike Rack

Has anyone got any pics of a rear receiver hitch bike rack on an H2 (with outside spare)? I've seen the photos over on the H3 forum, but my spare looks awhole lot bigger that the one on the H3. I'm just curious if the Yakima or Thule receiver hitch racks have the clearance for the tire. And the next question, can you swing the rack and the tire far enough out of the way to open the rear door?

I'm not interested in doing the front mount setup. I just don't care for the look of that (plus having to take the rack off to open the hood and check the oil).

Thanks!

The real problem is that swing away carrier. I hated that thing. When I did have it and the bike rack I had to buy a hitch extension. I think it was about 6 or 8 inch extension, required a second pin, of course and was available at my local 4x4 shop. You could probably get one at a rack shop, too.

You have to use an extension for those racks to work. The other issue with them as they normally step up once they are out of the receiver so you have to modify the rack too.

your best bet is to remove the rear tire or throw it up top.

You need an extension and you need to take out the bike carrier when you open the rear hatch.

Check the pics on this thread:

Re: Bike Rack

I have a Thule 4 bike carrier on my SUT.
It won't work without the extension.
Wobbles like crazy too.
Will try and post a picture tomorrow.

This is how much it sets off from the spare tire.
(Note the lean)

This is the Thule rack. It would have almost fit if the tire wasn't so big.
I usually take a ratchet strap and tie around the rack and the tow hoops.
