H1 Alpha top speed
Hi H1 folks. I've got a raging debate on what the top speed of the H1 Alpha is. I know it's a silly argument, it's just for bench racing's sake. Anyone here remove the limiter and found out?

Re: H1 Alpha top speed
I dought you will found someone who has due to the risk of warrenty and heat issue.

Re: H1 Alpha top speed
I have an 06 alpha. 80 is about all I have seen so far. I agree with the other response concerning the warrenty.

Re: H1 Alpha top speed
Wow, and I've had my H3 up to 95mph with sustained cruising at 85mph. Different kind of rig for sure.

Re: H1 Alpha top speed
Wow id like to konw that too probably like 20MPH hahahaa just messing, i do wonder though thats a good question.

I understand, the Dmax is an expensive critter. I'm still surprised that noone's chipped and did the aftermarket exhaust thing on their H1. Tons and TONS of people are doing it to the trucks. But again, being a Dmax owner, I completely believe that it's fine stock, so I never bothered. Personally, I believe that the H1 could do about 120 with the program change. |
Re: H1 Alpha top speed
Plenty of people have done this change. I know of two H1 owners making over 600 hp in their duramax rigs. Lots of people that do those mods buy them through the dealer and dont post online. The parts dept at my local dealer is about to put a stage III computer in one of his customer's Alpha's.

Like wow man.

Re: H1 Alpha top speed
Technically speaking, with stock Wrangler GSA's, you're limited to 99MPH because of a "Q" sidewall rating. And personally, with about 8,000 pounds of metal and 12" rotors, I don't think I'd want to go all that fast.

Nah, it'd be just fine even with a blowout. Todays tires are so much better than what I used to drive on. I'd take the stock tires on the H1 to over 120mph any day, after all, I used to go that fast on bias plys in my old Ford Galaxie! Seriously, the H1's so wide and stable that at 100mph a blowout wouldn't be a huge problem. Quite unlike the movies where vehicles go cartwheeling down the street when a tire gets shot out, the H1 would steer well and just be pulled over to the side. It might be ugly in the fender well, but shouldn't be any big freakout deal. |

YOUR NUTS, my H1 went all over the damn road just becouse 1 wheel lost balance. if you think you could handle the forces of o blown out of balance tire at 100mph then your out your frigin tree:twak: |
Re: H1 Alpha top speed
yeah, I've seen those movies...

Do the grab handles in your trucks have permanent imprints in them from your passengers clinging to them for their lives? A HUMMER does NOT make one anywhere near indestructable. Fast is for sports cars with ESC, Brembos, sport tires, and finely tuned suspensions. I'm sorry for the mean reply, but everyone has a responsibility for the safety of other drivers and themselves. Especially those who drive heavy and large vehicles which can inflict a ton of damage on the average car. Like this thread. If someone wants to go fast, they should buy something that is designed to go fast. Remember too that in an H1, because of the geared hubs, the brakes are stopping about twice the speed of the vehicle. So if you're "cruising" along at 120MPH, the brakes are going to be working as hard as if they were stopping from 240MPH. Great power=Great responsibility. |
Re: H1 Alpha top speed
95-100 range...and yea, you don't want those things going that fast anyway...yikes.

Re: H1 Alpha top speed
^^^i agree !

Re: H1 Alpha top speed
All I can say (or imagine) is:
H1 + 100mph = flying brick of death and carnage. Stay to the speed limit would be my answer. Don't push it, especially in that rig. :dancingbanana: |
Re: H1 Alpha top speed
hypothetical at best...
|
Re: H1 Alpha top speed
I have been advised that H1's are limited in speed by the geared hubs well before the tire's speed limitations.
|
Re: H1 Alpha top speed
I can say from experience that an H1 is scary above 60 MPH. 70 will make you need earplugs. 80 is almost certain doom. 100 MPH would be pure insanity, and the geared hubs would probably explode in a terrific display of death. :D

Re: H1 Alpha top speed
I have a friend who has an Alpha. He has re programed the computer, but he has no problem going over 100 and has done this several times. It seems like everything we meet up to go off roading I hear "I was running late so I was going over 100 to get here on time". Last week another friend in a H3 has to call him and tell him to slow down because the h3 stops just before 100.
