speedometer

When you change tire size from 32 to 33 can the speedometer be reprogramed to reflect this change?

Re: speedometer

Yes, your dealer can do it for you.

I would have to check on this, but when I'm in the Tech 2 and the TIS2WEB site, I see no chip to flip for tires. Granted I never looked...

It's there, they used it on my truck thinking I upgraded to 33's :jump:

Re: speedometer

Yep, it's available.

On the base model we went from the 32" tires to the Toyo 33".
We were at the Hummer dealer (3.5 hours away one way)
and we were having them install the underbody protection
and rock rails. They were going to recalibrate the system
for the 33" tires, but since it was Saturday they couldn't
call GM to get the information.

We ended up having the local GMC dealer do it, they had
to call GM to get the information.

Of course I had to pay to have it changed.

That's right, now the old mind is walking up. It's something that is not on the Tech 2, it is a calibration from GM engineering, and they will only go as high as the tires they have rated...33".
Glad you posted, now I don't have to go out and stare at the Tech 2 and TIS for a few hours trying to figure out how to adjust tire sizes.:dancingbanana:

You know, it's an interesting question as I have driven mine through the police's speedometer thing that they set up every now and then to show you if you were breaking the speed limit and my speedometer matches with theirs so I haven't had mine recalibrated.

I have done the same thing.....after going to the 33s, I have gone thru the radars with the self display and they are matching. So do I really need to get it switched?

Re: speedometer

According to Hummer Engineering, they state that the H3 has adaptive calibration from 32" to 33" tires and no reprogramming should be necessary. Now from 33" to 35" as I found is a a bit different.

Re: speedometer

When I went tp 33's, my GPS said that the Speedometer reads 1 MPH slow. Not enough to worry about.

Re: speedometer

Kewl...so no need to wait for the dealer to reprogram it. Great news!
