Tranny Hesitation or RPM "hunting" ?

Hey guys,

My 2004 is starting to hunt/hesitated while going down the road at around 35-45 mph. NO load, dead flat ground.

I have check my transmission fluid it looks good. no mixing with radiator fluid...what year was that a problem?

I don't know if it's the tranny or the engine. It is very faint, almost like when your almost out of gas on a motorcycle "if you have a bike you know what I mean".

It will get up and go when I floor it and shift normal.

I have 45,000 miles on her

I have tried to do a search but tranny, trans, etc come up with too much info to look at.

Thanks for the replies,

finbox

I had a similar problem with my last truck........it wasn't the tranny...but rather some back pressure issue with the muffler.

does it hunt if you push the tow haul switch or if you put the tranny in 3 instead of D? GM's are known for hunting and every GM truck that i've owned tends to hunt a bit.
