Hello all...I am new to this forum and I hope that I have found the right place to learn more about my H2. I've recently installed the K&N FIPK Generation 2 on my H2 and it seems that it's making more noise now under the hood. I've called K&N and the tech told me that it was normal to hear a more aggressive sound coming from under the hood. I can understand the roar from the engine and that's fine but what I'm hearing is some type of air noise which gets a little annoying at times when I don't have my stereo up to drown it out. Can anyone help me with this problem? If I can't resolve this issue, I guess I will put the stock airbox back in and use the Airaid drop-in filter. Thanks.

you have gone with an aftermarket air handling unit that has a larger capacity to move air. You are going to hear the difference. Part of the problem is K&N's open filter design if the nose gets too bad for you check into Volant's system it is closed to the elements like dirt, sand, water and in my opinion runs quieter. Even with the volant unit you will hear a difference in the amount of air being moved over your stock box.

Thanks Fubar...I think that I'll just put the factory airbox back in and use the Airaid filter with the MIT tube. Hopefully that will give off less noise. Has anyone else used this setup?

The other thing you can do is get an Airaid Replacement Air Filter. You get more air in (20% more) and it fits into your factory box.

Yeah Xeno, that's what I had in mind. The replacement filter with the stock air box and the airaid MIT tube. I think the setup is called Airaid Jr.

I have the M.I.T. with the O.E.M. replacement filter and love it. Using the stock airbox brings in cooler outside air, where the K&N gives you that nice hot air from your engine compartment.
