New Nanny

We just hired a Canasian one. My God, what have we done?

Does this mean that my kids will start acting Canadian?

If so, how do I de-Canadianize them?

Already got a dose of the "aboots." Kinda freaked me out. I'm trying to just pretend that she is Minnesotan or something.

Both of my sons were cared for by a wonderful German woman and after a while I noticed the youngest picking up a German accent.

She was amazing, every day she would prepare fresh pastries, a wide array of fruit and just about anything else from scratch you could dream up.

We'd have a problem with that because my 3-yr-old would get into trouble. Listening to the tour guides at the Air & space Museum repeatedly talking about how the P-38s and other American fighters shot down x number of German fighters in WWII, he's begun to associate Germans as anti-American targets for his "blasters." When we run around the back yard, he's always shooting at dinosaurs and Germans hiding in the bushes or at the German planes flying overhead in and out of Dulles. I try to explain to him that the Krauts aren't really that bad anymore, but to no avail. He'd be pointing his golf club or sticks at the German nanny and blasting her all the time. She might get tired of that. Though maybe he will grow out of this.

Taking away their cheese necklace is a start. We are powerless without our cheese necklaces.

I Googled "cheese necklace" with "Canada," and I still don't know what you are talking about. What's a cheese necklace?

BTW: She seems like a great lady - that's why we hired her.

We're just having fun. LOL. I bet she is a great lady. Our friends have a nanny from the Czech Republic. She's absolutely wonderful and nurturing. She's grandmotherly and has the kids best interests at heart. Hope your family's nanny is also a wonderful one for you. (BTW, I don't get Dennis' cheese necklace joke either, though I have NO doubt that he'll enlighten us soon. :giggling: )

That's hilarious. Now teach him about radical muslims.

X2

I'm sure now your kids will be raised to be more honest, moral now that you have her.

Perhaps. Personally, I was pushing for a younger local girl named Brittany, but that was a non-starter for wifey.
