Noise and shaking when turning hard?

Has anybody experienced any type of noises and shaking like the car is almost going to stall when turning hard and going in reverse? It also does it in drive but a bit less than reverse. I am not cranking the wheel all the way either. Very weird. I am going to dealer today, just thought I would throw it out there and see if anybody else has experience anything like this. :beerchug:

I checked all the 4wheel drive buttons, nothing accidentally on. That was my first thought. I checked power steering fluid too. Thank God for warranty. I searched on here too and couldnt find anybody mentioning this before.

After much research I have:

1. Upper and lower steering shaft stress. Fix: Replaced upper shaft

2. Loose or bad boody mounts. Fix: replace or lube re tighten body mounts
Cause: Installed wrong

3. Loose cross member

4. Loose sway bar

See what the stealer has to say about this.

Ended up being number 1. Steering shaft joint? was bad. replaced entire steering column. Also checked front body mounts. Those were installed incorrectly and also replaced, but not the source of the problem. Thanks to all you guys, I got my H fixed right this time. Beers on me! :beerchug:

Glad to hear that you got it fixed.:excited: Any early warning noises that we should be aware of related to this problem?

Re: Noise and shaking when turning hard?

The night before when I going in reverse it was not moving when the wheels were turned unless I goosed it. When I stepped on the gas a bit it made a slight humming sound and the steering wheel was vibrating slightly. The next day it did it everytime I was turning right or left anything past more than half of the maximum turning radius (does that make sense?). At that point it was whining almost like it would if you had no power steering fluid and vibrating pretty bad. Hope that helps. Dealer said this was not a common issue. :beerchug:

SL - Thanks for the info. My steering column sometimes creaks but nothing like what you experienced.

Re: Noise and shaking when turning hard?

My H3 is doing the same thing in the steering. I told the dealer that I believe it was the steering shaft because I had the same problem on my 1998 Jeep Wrangler. They did absolutely nothing to my car  My loaner with 1500 miles was doing the same exact thing - steering column vibrating and hopping and pedals vibrating when turning. It seems that the gremlins only come out when i'm driving, the dealership said nothing was happening when they drove my car. I guess I will try a different dealership.
