STEERING LOCKED while doing 50 mph

I ran out of petrol while driving - first thing I noticed was a loss of power - then I try to pull over and realise the H2s gone dead - the steering locks up like its parked - Yanking it quite hard made little change to direction.

Luckily I was able to just brake without killing the person behind - and more luckily I wasnt going round a corner.

Is this a special feature of H2s? If you stupid enough to run out of petrol you deserve to die type thing???

Ive never run out of petrol beforewhile driving - maybe all cars do this but killing the steering is more than a little dangerous.

Any advice apart from dont run out of gas?

Any vehicle with power steering will do this. Hummers are heavy and have larger tires so it makes them harder than a normal car. You need to pay more attention to the lights and gauges on the dash :giggling:............ Glad your OK.

Yep, loss of power steering.

All you gotta do is drive without power steering for a while to realize how lucky you are to have a nice car!

Don't have time to workout and stay in shape.. just lose the power steering.. get a workout while driving! :p

Yes. Few people are aware of the little known fact that the original design of the H2 was in large part a product of the work of Horace Basil Barlow, the great grandson of the famous English naturalist Charles Robert Darwin. He designed this be-dumb-and-die H2 gas-depletion steering incapacitator as a tribute to his great grandfather.

:jump:

the steering should not have locked up, but would have been very difficult to steer. Sounds like someone forgot to take their Flinstone One-A-Day's today.

Yea, until the steering wheel snaps back and takes your fingers off! Just like my old 1970 ford pick-up...bruised knuckle driving.

:D

When you run out of gas not only will you lose your power steering and brakes, but your engine and transmission stop working! :D
Glad your OK! :)

:D :dancingbanana: :D

Looks like I had a close shave.

Im suprised Ive gone through life without noticing this.

At least if I had crashed there would be no gas to set fire to. Id rather die from blood loss than fire.:shhh:
