Viper & Radar...

I had a Proximity sensor installed with my Viper SST V5900 alarm. I was wondering why every now and then at my home in my driveway the alarm would go off. There seemed to be no patteren to when it would trigger and go off.

Also some times when I would set it while I was out and about , again about 10 min later it would be yelping. This didn't show up up right away but about a week later. So, I went back to the Authorized Viper Install store and spoke with the installer.

Turns out that the radar unit is located under the console and broadcasts in a 360* direction about 4 feet out from the 3. It looks for movement that is not random. Anyway..turns out that I park next to my Hedge and schurbs in the driveway and when the wind picks up the sensor see's the movement as a possible theif.

It also works in conjuntion with the shock sensor..

This S_IT never ceases to fargle my brain. Radar ...go figure..:D

Back in '83 I had a Cadillac El Dorado Touring Coupe (I miss that car) with a Black Bart Alarm system installed. It had a sensor inside to detect window breakage and even a slim jim being used based on sound. One weekend right after I got it I went out of town for 3 days leaving it home. I got home to a note on my windshield saying the alarm kept going off all weekend. Long story short, I left my watch in the car and every hour on the hour it would "beep" setting off the alarm. My nieghbors were pissed.:jump:

Yes... And that was one reason I went back to the installer. But he said ...Best to leave it at tha setting for best results. As far as the alarm going off goes....It only sounds for 30 seconds and then resets. It also makes a note that it went off and lets you know which sensor fired.

Also at this stting ..it detects and warns before it goes to alarm by giving several chirps to warn that your to close.

Cool pimpin caddy.:) But I prefer to avoid all that noise. I think I will stick with the factory alarm.
