Some double speake from the 2007 H3 Owners manule. I'm coming up on 5000 miles and I went to the manual for guidence.

Ok ..Which One...?? I would think ..for new tires like mine I would also use the spare.

I say rotate with your spare.

Your diffs can take a certain amount of difference in tire size. But if you add a new tire to a really worn set, the size difference could cause trouble at high speeds. Maybe overheat the diff oil. It's the same principle as driving with a donut spare on your car.

I took mine in at 6500 miles for an oil change & rotation. I asked the service manager what he recommended, 4 or 5 tire rotation. He said he preferred the 4 tire rotation because they had a few 4wd service codes come up due to the tire size difference after extended driving.

Made sense to me so I stayed with the 4 tire rotation. Saves me one tire to buy when the time comes.

Guess there's as many ideas about what is right on rotation as there are on what oil to use..

I was told by a reputable tire shop to go:

Spare to Right Rear to Left Front to Right Front to Left Rear to Spare

i just do 4-tire front to back .

That's what I'm thinking. Even if the spare is used for a flat replacement... It'll only be on there long enough to get me to a flat fixer..or I'll end up repairing it myself (Which I have already done) with one of those "butel rubber" push in plugs.

Most of you guys going off road carry one of those plug kits with and air compressor any how..don't you..??

Good point ..Didn't think about that. Kinda Sorta gives a 5K mile break to one tire at a time.

Thats what I do too. I read something a while back about the tires that have steel belts in them and centripetal force actually embedding the steel in the rubber. When you switch sides ut changes tire direction and will pull the steel the other way and weaken the tire. Not sure which tires still have steel belts, but I have always keep to same side rotation to avoid this. Anyone else hear this?

Never heard about steel belts weakening the tire like that. But if it's true, why would automakers recommend a dangerous rotation schedule. And why would OEM tire makers allow it? The lawsuits would put them all out of business. Almost happened to Firestone and Ford.

afaik, almost all modern radial tires are steel-belted.

It's not steel belted radial tires you don't change direction with, it's bias-ply that supposedly come apart from direction changes..
