Adjustable Swaybar Links Install
 

Just installed my new swaybar links together with my new Bilstein shocks:

This is the powergrid 10M-35 kit with THK balls that is about 1.4 inches longer than stock. The link has sealed balls, unlike the stock connector that just has a cap on the ball.

I adjusted it to about 1 inch longer than stock. Enough for my 4X torsion bar turns. It has more than enough left if I decide to go to 6X.

My head mechanic is helping me out with this install.

The installation went like this:

- jack up the truck, usejack stands
- remove wheels
- remove connectors first
- romove shocks
- install new shocks
- install new connectors
- install wheels
- take her for a ride

Removing connectors. Had to use a grip plier to keep the bolt from spinning endlessly. The new one has a hex bolt in the middle so you won't have this problem.

Removing the shocks is easy. Just remove the upperbold first, then the lower. You can pull it right out. Installation of the new shock was somewhat difficult. Had to compress the shock before it could fit. Had to use a shade mechanic trick:

Then the connectors went in. Installation is easy. You can actually compensate the for the weight of the driver you want. I put them in neutral postions. Watch out! you can put them in wrong. If you put them the wrong way your tie rod will hit them at full turn. This is the correct way:

Took it for a spin. Darts into corners like a Modena.

Thanks for posting. So you installed them in the front....do you have any plans to install the rear too?

What is the part number for the adjustable links and can you direct us to the website to purchase them?

I didn't buy the hummer H3 kit as this is for a non lifted H3. It has the same length as stock. Instead you should buy the 10M-35. It is listed under "Ford Fusion 06-07 Front swaybar links". I went trough the choice with Chip and this is indeed the correct application as you can see from my install. You can mail him if you are unsure. He is a nice guy.

Forgot to answer that questions.

The rear of my truck is lifted 1 inch using shackles. I'm thinking about how to modify these type of links to make an adjustable disco. But haven't settled on a design yet. If I do anything in that direction I'll let the forum know.

About the member that asked about the benefit? The benifit of adjustable is that you can adjust to whatever lift you have or plan to have. If I decide to go 6X TB turn I just turn a bolt on the the Swaybar link and presto! And of course it is a bitch to find right connectors for our H3.

Question for you. Now that you have the longer end links up front, do you still have rubbing on the sway bar at full lock?

Ok...you put me into a bind. I have to admit...I still have stock tires :crying:
so no rubbing.

I am waiting to finish all my suspension mods before putting on 35s. I'm thinking of going with the Toyos.

I still need to put in:

- Quick disconnects rear (Allready ordered , thanks Sewie)
- Shocks Rear (Allready orderered Rancho grrrrrr...),
- Progressive Bumpstop front (allready ordered and praying I can make them fit)

By the way wouldn't a quick disconnect bump stop be great? That way you would have good cornering and no nose dive on the road and after disconnecting full travel offroad.

You might bottom out the shocks or clunk the front end on something if you come down too hard off a rock or hit the whoop-di-dos too fast.

Yeah...I realize that. Need to leave some rubber or foam thingy in place after disconnecting.
