Smart Man

(Now the title of the email that I got was "The Brain of a Jew". I was skeptical about opening it because it sounded derogatory to me, but my friend who sent it is Jewish so I read it and thought it was a great story. So I left the Jewish part in the story but left it out of the title of the thread because I didn't want readers to think it was derogatory. Aight.:D)

BRAIN OF A Jew

This is a true incident that happened in New York.

A Jewish man walked into a bank in New York City
one day and asked for the loan officer.

He told the loan officer that he was going to Israel on
business for two weeks and needed to borrow $5,000.

The bank officer told him that the bank would need
some form of security for the loan.

The Jewish man handed over the keys to a new Ferrari
parked on the street in front of the bank. He produced
the title and everything checked out.

The loan officer agreed to accept the car as collateral
for the loan.

The bank's president and its officers all enjoyed a good laugh at the Jewish man for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral against a $5,000 loan.

An employee of the bank then drove the Ferrari into the bank's underground garage and parked it there. Two weeks later, the Jewish man returned, repaid the $5,000 and the interest, which came to $15.41.

The loan officer said, "Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you >> were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multimillionaire.

What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow $5,000?"

The Jewish man replied: "Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return'"

Is part of the story missing? A smart man wouldn't buy a Ferrari if he has no where to safely park it without going to the bank and doing this deal all the time. Surely if he has a $250,000 Ferrari, he has a house with a garage or at least lives in a building with a decent secured parking garage. Why wouldn't he just park it there? Perhaps he really isn't a smart man, made some bad decisions and now has to live in his Ferrari while in the states?

I just don't get, that's all. And I wish someone would explain why this guy is considered smart. If you look at it is cheap, secure parking... fine, brilliant idea but that's only half of it. The stupidity of the entire situation more than offsets the brilliance of the single idea.

Since this is supposedly a true story, does anyone have the name of the guy or the bank or someone I can talk with regarding this?
