time for new tires

thanks in advance for your replys! Im sure this has been asked a few times in the past, but my Nitto Mud Grapplers are on their last legs and I need some new tires. I want an agressive look, good off road capabilites but less roar when on the road. Im thinking the toyo open country mud terrains but want some input! AlanSUT if you read this..i like the look of your tires, are they pretty loud? Thanks again everyone.

Here's another vote for the Toyo Open Country M/T's. I over-researched those since I liked the look of the Nitto's but after reading complaint after complaint on various online forums about the noise, I went with the Toyo's.

They have been on a few months and we love em'. Excellent in the snow, mud, pavement, rain, what-have-you.

I would say they are sort of loud....like I wouldnt want to drive cross country with them, but a four or five hour drive is fine. I still use my stockers for Daily driving and swap on the coopers for off roading--Partially because I have two sets of stock all terrians and would rather wear down that tread than my mud tires.

Boss Hoss said his Khumo M/T's were as quiet as his Pro comp AT's and they performed great at Tellico.

one more for Toyo's. I have had them on Sand, Mud, loose rock, and soon slickrock and snow. I know they'll do great on the slickrock but not sure on the snow yet. THey are quiet vs the BFG MT's on the highway.

Re: time for new tires

IM not sure what size rim you have but for some reason im thinking you have a 20in rim...if you have 20s i dont think the coopers come in a 20 so you can more than likely x them off the list. Im running the Kumho m/t's and they are really quiet. I got them after talking to many people that had previously run the Toyo M/T's and they all said they were hands down a quieter than the toyo. They seemed to perform well enough at Tellico but im dont think the side walls conformed to rock as much as my procomps did at the same psi(20lbs). They are listed at 37x13.50 but im convinced the are really 12.50. My procomp extreme all terrains had a really nice fat look to them and the kumhos looks pretty skinny to me...i prefer the fat look. The Toyo m/t is tried and true and youll hear lots of good stuff about them.

I think everyone has given you great advice. I'll just throw another contender into the mix. BFG just released their Mud Terrain TA/KM2. I am dying to try them, but I presently have too much tread to justify it. :violin: They are supposed to be great off road. I don't know how quiet they are. A few people here have already tried them (like H2Rocks). You might ask her about them.

I have the 37"x13.5"x22" Toyo M/T's and before that I had the Nitto Terra grapplers. I thought the Nitto's were loud until I got the Toyo M/T's..They definitely are very loud. However, I wouldn't trade them for all the tea in China..I love the look, plus if it starts to bother me, I just turn the tunes up louder..Da BRUTE :perfect10s:

Try the Pro Comp extreme a/t's or extreme m/t's, they are very good tires and make no noise, the a/t's are rated for 40k miles and for the month of october they are buy 3 get 1 free at 4 wheel parts.;)

Yeah but if you think Terra Grapplers are loud then your loud o meter is automaticly disqualified for review:D . Ill agree the toyos look great on your rig. Did you think the BFG at's were loud by any chance?

I can barely hear my Coopers, just enough so that I feel like I'm in a cool military truck rather than in a car-like SUV. I also actually like the way they drive on the pavement better than the stockers--sit up a little taller; seem firmer--also look super cool.

I greatly appreciate everyone's input! I am going to go with the Toyo's. I have to agree with Boss Hoss if anyone thinks the Terra Grapplers are loud..then they need to ride in my truck with the Mud Grapplers!!! Once again I appreciate the advice and as always this forum is a huge help! I will post pics and give a brief review of the toyo's once I get them on and try them out.

I will definitely let everyone know what I think of them. I actually priced them at a few places last week and found a guy who can get 35x12.50x20's for 350.00 each out the door( not installed). So far this sounds like a steal!
