Re: New Rockstars & Grapplers
ROCKSTARS!!!!! But you need to move your rear l plate to the bumper so you get the whole 5th tire/ wheel to show!!
|
Re: New Rockstars & Grapplers
That combo looks tight as hell

Re: New Rockstars & Grapplers
Thanks, I know about the rear plate. I'm in the process of working a piece to re-mount the plate. Ran out of time the day I put them on.:D

Re: New Rockstars & Grapplers
I heard they wouldn't fit on the rear tire carrier. Did you have to mod the carrier to get the spare to fit?
|
Re: New Rockstars & Grapplers
Not at all, I had to mod the plate carrier to fit back on the new wheel while I work on a new relocated bracket . . .
|
Re: New Rockstars & Grapplers
I'm confused...
So you are saying the tire carrier did not have to be modded and the license plate bracket did? |
Re: New Rockstars & Grapplers
Yea the wheel went right on. I'm not sure what all these people are talking about their wheels not fitting on the carrier. You are replacing an 8 bolt wheel with the exact same pattern. The only difference is the depth and diameter. However b/c it is a deeper wheel the plate bracket doesn't reach. I had to get a threaded stud and a coupler to extend the bracket screw to fit all the way through the wheel, but the coupler was too thick so I had to grind it down to a smaller circumferance thickness. After all of that the bracket doesn't sit on the light housing lip so I had to place some 1/4" to hold the bracket from sliding all around on the wheel. In the process of making something better for the long run, but for now it made me legal enough to get back on the street.

Re: New Rockstars & Grapplers
Looks good, F/O, but you should have put the gator print on the outside. ;) :D
Rotate them at least every 5k miles or you ain't heard "loud" yet (when the fronts start to cup). I didn't rotate mine often enough, and only got 22k miles out of them. |
Re: New Rockstars & Grapplers
Yea. I'm a bit pissed that they mounted them skin side in. I ordered them already mounted and balanced and I didn't realize till after they were on the truck and now its not worth the trouble.
Thanks for the info on rotating. I was thinking about 5k or so, but I sure as hell hope to get more than 22k for how much I spent on them. Did you cross rotate them or just front to back? I haven't really got a good answer from any shop. Def much better from an actual user! |

The shop mounted mine that way too, but I made them remove and re-mount. :twak: :D I always rotate just straight front to back. There was once a "school of thought" that said because crossing them changed the rotational direction of the tire, you'd risk belt separation. I'm sure that's an out-dated view, but I have stuck with it. Still not a solid answer for you, so maybe someone else will chime in. |
