What a great car to buy
Having owned a Buick Grand National when new, and still missing that car to this day, I kind of cream my pants when I see this ad:
9 mile, MSO title GNX Oh sure, the appreciation isn't as good as any solid investment, but to own this particular car... WOW! I'm still hoping for one or two undocumented GNX's to pop up with less than 5 miles on them. It's possible as most showed up to the dealers with 4-4.5 miles on the odometer. Gigity... I just made a mess again...:o :dancingbanana: |

Got to love the $650 gas guzzler tax.
Never owned one, but drove a couple of souped up Grand nationals in my lifetime. Fun cars to drive. |

There's another 9 mile car out there that sold for "well over a 100k", but there's a story behind that one. It had 7 miles on it when it showed up at the auction. The battery was dead so they had the car jumpstarted. So far, so good. Here's the nutty part, one of the lot guys DROVE the car around for 2 miles to "charge" the battery. I'd have killed him.:raar: |
Re: What a great car to buy
pristine condition. Not sure it'd be worth 100K to me though

Re: What a great car to buy
maybe this one
![]() MODEL 56J-K7 HARDTOPSPECIFICATIONSThe 1956 Golden Hawk features modest tail fins. It differs from the Sky Hawk in that it uses Packard's potent 352 cubic inch V8 instead of the Studebaker 289 cubic inch V8. Golden Hawks with Automatic transmission use Packard's Twin Ultramatic while Sky Hawks use the Flightomatic by Borg Warner. And finally, the Golden Hawk is the only 1956 Hawk with fins.

Re: What a great car to buy
my friend at work just sold another guy at work his GN he bought new. I can't say he was much of a mechanic as it needed tons of work and a new paint job. the guy who bought it spent close to $7000 just redoing things to make it drivable. he got the body done and and its now in fresh gloss black paint. the cars worth is in the details. he paid something like $400 for the tail light with the correct bezel to match the trim. its pretty sharp now.
