Things not to do in an H2

Well we have had our H2 for 3 weeks now and the first day we
signed the papers I decide to take it through the car wash
(the type you roll in and the machine moves) I was worried the H2 we have was too tall.
It is too wide and in order to get it all the way in the washer
we had to ride up on the bars on the floor and jump off them at the end.
Needless to say we will not go back again.

Thank you.
Does the list have get togethers or meets.
If we are over in you area maybe we could say HI.
We go over there about 4 or 5 times a year to shop.

He forgot to mention not to hit telephone poles too. Last night we had to park in BFE to go to the Play n Trade and while leaving we hear a bump. He says, "What was that?" LOL He got out to look and had hit a telephone pole. No damage whatsoever. We fought that pole and won. It's funny cause when we do something stupid like the carwash or pole I always get these looks from him like, "What are you going to do about fixing this?" :giggling: Like I know! I could just picture us in that car wash having to call the police or OnStar and saying we're stuck in a car wash.

Welcome to the site !! Using a car wash with my hummer in Belgium is totally out of the question ! No carwash over here is big enough, same with parkings pots, parking garages, ... :jump:

once you figure out that it doesn't fit in to many parking spaces the same as everything else you will be fine. I leave my trailer hitch in to keep from hitting stuff backing up. it taps walls & sign posts before the bumper does.

When we travel on vacation we have two criteria....#1 does the facility have parking for the H2 #2 does the facility have high speed internet. Some of the parking garages i've been in i can reach up and touch the roof thru the sun roof. Makes me nervous for sure.

There isnt a car wash around Pittsburgh other than the ones you drive into and hose it off yourself that will fit an H2. So the automatic ones are out of the question.

Congrats on a damage free fight with the pole. You'll get used to the beast. One just has to remember where the "corners" of the beast are.

When I first bought one back in 06 i was coming back the turnpike and wasnt sure it would fit thru the toll gate, but now, its a piece of cake to drive.

Ugh, I hate parking garages. Something about the ceiling being right on my head makes me claustrophobic and oddly, I'm NOT normally claustrophobic. I loved crowds! I'll stay out of those parking garages, though. We did the valet parking in Port Tampa and it fit under that one fine.

Yeah, 99% of parking decks around here are a no-no for me.

Which makes finding a parking spot more fun tho....I always check for a place that I can drive straight out of. Over parking bumps, rocks or hills are even better! Just make sure to check for rebar first if you go over the bumps.

Don't leave your hitch in the receiver! I don't know about the liability laws in your state, but 3 years ago, a woman was walking out of the supermarket, hit her knee on my hitch, and my insurance company was held liable for 77K in damages!

Holy Sh*t! Did her knee fall off, mutate and turn into a world ending virus? Sheesh! At that payoff I should look for rogue trailer hitches at the mall this Christmas.

I think your insurance company might have gotten off cheap...not that I'm an ambulance chaser.

I imagine the bill included some minor surgery, therapy, and whatnot.

Or loss of pay from work and.... You know, not being able to perform....

I never thought about the liability aspect and am going out to the garage now to take my fricken ball out of my receiver.

Thanks.

ive got the 3 as you know, but ive seen plenty of H2's go through the carwash i take my too down here in FL. However as for the parking space thing youll realize rear visibilty blows, and on the H2 im sure its worse, best advice i have for you is PARK BACKWARDS, its way easier to back in with a hummer than try to back out with a hummer, and as a plus your car looks better in the parking lot :)

I spoke with a guy from a local 4x4 club(didnt know they had those here) and they go wheeling out on the west side of Eglin AFB around Navarre. I plan on going within the month and if it is decent ill let you guys know incase you want to get off pavement. Im thinking its going to be fairly mild compared to what im used to.

Re: Things not to do in an H2

One thing we WERE able to do today is one of the grocery stores has limited parking and small spaces. We couldn't get past two vehicles parked end to end due to one of the trucks parking too far out. So we waited till a guy left and went over the curb bumper thing then out over the entire curb onto the street. Now that was fun. :)

Now I know better than to get too rude here since we
are near 20 yrs of marriage BUT damn woman that was
ME driving the truck you were the passenger.
LOL
At least the beast had no trouble stepping over the
bumper or the curbs.

Mild to medium will be fine with me.
We have not had it off road yet unless
you count all the road construction.
