Opinions on replacement H3 consideration

My H3 may not be up to snuff when it comes out of the shop. Pending how it drives thinking of trading my 06 for a new. Whats the word on the Alpha v8 verses the 3.7.
Truth be told for me the 3.5 did the trick for my need. Was getting from 16 to 18 MPG and for a Auto not too shabby!
:orly:

Interested in 07 and 08 owners thougts...

love it im getting about 14-16 mpg city, hwy i usually get somewhere around 17-18. I've driven a few "06's and i can notice the power difference, its not a large one but 22 hp and 22 more lb/ft of torque on a car this heavy makes a big difference

3H,
Thanks for that reply. Do you have any intake or exhaust mods? Sounds like you are doing good!

no intake or exhaust mods sadly :(, on a tight budget since its my first car and everythings gotta pass by my parents before i do it, all the stuff ive got is listed in my signiture. Come my birthday next month im gonna be size up to 33" tires and then i think my gas mileage will probably go down a tiny bit. I try to use cruise control as much as possible to try to get the best gas mileage as possible.

I have a new '08 Base Lux Model with the 3.7L. It suits me fine. I am getting 17 mpg driving to and from work (80% freeway).

Besides the engine, there are a number of improvements over the '06 and several over the '07.

ya dont forget you get the new door panel which i dont have! had to buy mine right when the "07's came out so i got hte old door panel, which personally i like better cause you have something to grab on towhen your driving instead of that awkard upward sope your rist is on with the new door panels. but yes there are more improvements than that! go drive it!

I have the Alpha. LOVE IT. 12-13 in city. 15-16 Hwy. Power is great. It makes the H3 feel like a Hot Rod

If your 3.5L '06 worked well for you, you'd probably be pleased with 3.7L - I'm not finding my '07 H3 sluggish and can keep up with traffic easily. If I was to buy another one I'd consider 5-speed model; that would save me $ on 4-speed auto transmission "upgrade" plus give more control/more performance out of the 3.7L engine. The Alpha price is undoubtedly steep; on local dealer's lot they're all well over $40k, more like $42k-$43k - if I were to shop for replacemant of mine I'd let the dealer find me '07 or '08 Adventure with 5-speed, at @ MSRP or close to it. I'd be saving around $10k compared to Alpha, I'd be chrome & leather free, and have exactly what I want and not paying for unneeded stuff. That said, if $$$ is not an issue, Alpha is probably way to go.

Re: Opinions on replacement H3 consideration

IMO

For the most part (99%) I really like the 06 - H3 that I bought. The wife's next vehicle is an H2, and I'll pick up a used H1 shortly thereafter. At this point in time I have no use for an H3 Alpha, however if I did I might be tempted to wait for the 09's. Meaning, if I really needed one -- I'd buy it, but if I could wait another year -- I most likely would.
