Speculation time...

1 Attachment(s)
Ok, now that the HX has been revealed and we see where HUMMER is heading in the future, there's one picture that's got me curious...

In one of GM's initial press releases regarding the HX, there's a pic of the 3 designers working on a HUMMER. We now know that it isn't the HX, far too large, completely different styling, and flat-sided.

We know it's not a mock up for the HX's, it's a full scale model. It has a lot of the features that the current H2 has, the flat sides, front opening hood, hood latches. It's roughly the size of a current H2 aswell...

Could this just be, the next incarnation of the H2 for 2010?

no its the early hx. If you watch the vid where they release the new hx for the first time. He said it was designed by 3 of there youngest designers. This would be those 3.

Yes, those are the three designers but I don't think that was any version of the HX. The proportions and styling are nowhere near the HX concept. Besides, why would they not show the whole vehicle, if that was the case? I agree with the others, most likely a next-gen H2.

I know they're the HX designers, doesn't mean they're only working on the HX.

It's definitely not an early HX, atleast not an early version of the current concept. The styling is drastically different.

It's not a half scale mockup either obviously, it's a full size model. It might be an early foam model of an early direction on the HX, but it looks too polished for that, and again, too large.

From what I've read the designers are late 20's early 30's.

I've asked 2 people who would probably have some insight into what
it is we are seeing in that photo.....Is that a new H2?

Both have expertly sidestepped the question and/or completely ignored it.

What ever it is, it's damn interesting.

Interesting...

This might be stretching it, but in a recent interview Carl Zipfel, the exterior design director for HUMMER, was talking about how important approach angle is to HUMMER, then mentions how the HX has a 56 degree approach angle, and the H2 has a 55 degree approach angle. Now, we all know the current H2 does not have a 55 degree approach angle, so maybe he slipped the approach angle specs on the new H2? The concept pictured above definitely looks like it could have a 55 degree approach angle... Or maybe he just made an error (which would be weird, for someone heading the exterior design of HUMMER's)

Here's the interview http://youtube.com/watch?v=Dbm6QF7T3oE

Late 20s.

I won't say what it is, but I will say that at 5'10" I'm taller than all three of them.

Not sure I understand your comment. The truck itself or my opinion? As rugged H2 said, look at the drawing on the wall.

Yeah, so? You can't really tell anything from this drawing other than it appears to be a 4 door pickup.

Re: Speculation time...

Why couldn't that be the HX in the picture...in the early stages??? Those designers are probably 5 feet tall.

Re: Speculation time...

OOOPS.....got a number wrong! Put a 4 instead of a 3. Good job you 'Experts' are here to correct me. Here's me thinking this was a thread about speculation on what vehicle it might be? Don't actually see any speculation coming from the 'Experts' and 'Gurus' apart from how tall and how old the Designers may be. Interesting. Keep up the flow of useful information.
