I did my first oil change, and it is a bitch to do w/o making a mini-Valdez on the garage floor. The oil plug drops oil all over the undercarage protector and the oil filter is mounted above the protection plate. Is there a filter relo kit? Is there something I'm missing other than "Do it in someone else's garage"? Guess I was spoiled by my Navigator and its behind the front bumper location.

Remove your front skid plate, and save yourself the trouble of oil everywhere!

Here is another idea from another member, I just don't remember who:

Use a piece of tin-foil under the drain plug to funnel the oil to the pan and away from the skid plate. he said it worked great and was tried by several other members, all with positive results.

Cut a windshield washer jug down to funnel
the oil to were it needs to go.The shield
does not have to come down,You can still hit
all the grease points with out dropping it.
If your dealer is chargeing you 9 tenths to
change oil your the one getting lubed(or not)

take it to the deal and for 35 bucks you get a clean h2 and a oil change...........

Same here as far as the washings go. Hall is great for service.

Here is San Antonio, washes are complimentary.
With or without service.

Yep, I usually get mine washed every oil change whether it needs it or not. But I usually push the oil changes out to 5000 miles instead of 3000.

I run synthetic oil and change it at 3K or less, so the 35 buck thing doesn't apply...And I do know that the oil will last longer, I'm just a fanatic with maintenance. Thanks for the relo kit...one is on order.

That was Zing that suggested the foil trick. I've done it a few times now and there's no mess. Use a small piece to direct the oil from the plug. Then a longer piece up around the back of the filter and down toward your drain pan.

I tried 1 oilchange, and it just wasnt worth it for me, i strated going to the dealer, for $40 i get an oil change, tires check and filled, and a washing, plus they often will give me an H@ off the lot to run errands in
