Question Re: GM Major Guard Protection Plan transfer

I just traded my '06 H3 for an '08 H2. However, within the first few months that I had my H3, I had some 'issues' with it which had taken a few months to get through. I spent a lot of time with GM, who had given me a MAJOR GUARD Protection Plan for all my troubles .. Major guard is their premium protection plan .. covers EVERYTHING except paint and detailing. This plan would have taken me to 2011 or 89,986 miles, whichever came first. Since it was a 'gift' from GM, I can't turn it back to them for a refund ..BUT, I could sell it to the new owners of my H3. I had used my H3 as a trade-in, so I have no idea who the new owners may be. The dealer told me to ask GM for $$ back. Well, I can't since they gave it to me for the problems I had to endure. I called GM and they told me I could have the dealer attach a message to my H3's paperwork telling a potential buyer that the original owner has an extended policy to sell if they are interested. (There is also a $50.00 charge to transfer the policy from the original owner to the new one). The GM rep also told me that since it is MAJOR GUARD, it is 'the' premium plan with total, complete coverage. He wouldn't suggest to me what to charge, but repeated that it is premium. My question ... does anyone have any suugestion in how much I should sell it for??? I don't know how much that plan would cost if I bought it. GM told me that if I don't sell it or transfer it, it will just expire in 2011. The new owners will never be told that one existed. Any thoughts?

Since GM said the dealer should attach a "message" why not ask for a copy of that verbage and wright something to that effect in plain english as your own accord...

Here is a dealership that sells GMPP online for very low prices. You can look up your warranty to see what it would cost the new owner to purchase. Maybe this will serve as a guide...

Re: Question Re: GM Major Guard Protection Plan transfer

Good advise. Thanks guys. I think the dealer wants to sell the new buyer a protection plan themselves .. new ... and not mention what I was given and willing to sell for a fraction of the cost. They must get commission on selling a protection plan.

Re: Question Re: GM Major Guard Protection Plan transfer

I've been getting these vmails and mailings about the GMPP.
I have an H3 '06 which has the 4/50,000 warranty

Is this a warranty that goes along side of the warranty i got when i purchased my H3?

I have 30K on my H3 right now.

Just confused about if this is an extended warranty or if GMPP is another protection plan they are just trying t sell me.

Has anyone bought this GMPP 36/45K ???
Is it needed or not?

thanks
