My H3 is gone
Some of you may remember I was trading in my H3 for a new pickup truck and elected to trade instead of selling outright becuase I ordered my new truck and didn't believe I could sell out right on time with my new truck delivery so the dealer gave me 16500 on my trade which paid it off but that was all. Two days later it's on thier lot with a sticker of 24995, 8 days later its gone. Damn I wish I would have sold it and made that money but I made the bed now I'm layin in it. Just thought I'd throw that out there for those thinking of selling, dealer said they could only offer me 16500 because the high mileage 53000 on a 1.5 year old truck and the economy and fuel prices my truck wasn't an attractive buy. Just a little sour grapes sucks for me but hopefully you all can do better and learn from me.

Re: My H3 is gone
At least you saved on the tax money off the trade. When I went the other route and sold my rig to get the H3 the first buyer offerd cash and took it. Then my H3 which was built was held in quality control for 2 weeks. So I was stuck for a few weeks.
So sometimes the grass on the other side is greener. Hard to believe when you can buy an new H3 for about 30k they could sell one with over 50k miles for that #... You saved yourself some aggravation for sure buy making the deal. Post some pics of the new pickup!! |
Re: My H3 is gone
You know how it is though, the dealer has all the financing resources on their side. Wonder if they'll show up on the forum?

Re: My H3 is gone
I will post a pic of my new truck after I get my tool box/dog kennels made and installed. guess I'll have to post in the other 4x4 section nothing special just an F150 supercrew 4x4 with a 6.5' bed, I plan on keeping it stock only need 4x4 on hunting trips for crappy roads and snow (thats all I wanted my 3 for until I started a little rock crawlin in it, I'll miss that) may be a while before pics but will get them up as soon as kennels are done:)

Re: My H3 is gone
never, never, never trade your car to the Dealer (stealership)
You will always come out ahead, dispite the "tax" savings!! sJK |
Re: My H3 is gone
Another sad tale at the stealership....:soapbox: :soapbox: :soapbox:

Re: My H3 is gone
I too tested the waters this weekend with my 2006 Adventure with 20,000 miles and was offered $20,300.

Re: My H3 is gone
So sad that some of the original people here are selling their H3's! Hmrlvr was among the first, then Field Scout and now I see Blindzebra has his up for sale. :crying: There were a couple of others, too. Bummer!
I got about $21,000 on my '06 H3 (34K miles) trade-in towards the '08 H2. I purposely didn't tell the salesman what I was looking for at first so I could see what he was going to give me .. I said maybe an '08 H3, or '07 H2, '08 H2. But, you know .. they all do the same thing .. give here and take there .. to make it look like a great deal. Enjoy your new truck and put the 'sour grapes' behind you. |
Re: My H3 is gone
I got $24K on my 06 H3 trade with 9K miles, not too bad considering the market here was flooded with used 07s even, worked out to be good timing for me

Re: My H3 is gone
The hummer dealer offered me 10k for my 02 escalade (115k miles).
I sold it for 14,500. And it was crashed before but overall in premo condition. |

He could sell it to people for that much because those people needed the 9% finance just to buy it. If you're willing to finance someone like that, you could've gotten $25k for it. You probably could've come out at $20k pretty easily though. |
Re: My H3 is gone
if you want to sell your truck fast, just sell it well below the normal price. If the dealor can sell it for 25k, you could list it at 20-21k. quick sell!
Unfortunately you traded it in. I think i missed it but why did you need to trade it in so urgently? |
Re: My H3 is gone
I had custom ordered my new vehicle and when it arrived at the dealer I got the call that my truck was there, 12 days earlier than expected, and they were waiting on me to sign the papers. I didn't want to mess with trying to carry two loans so the only real option was a trade.
