Are the door's water proof?

As far as crossing water deeper than the rocker panel, are the doors sealed water tight?

In other words, if I get water above the lowest part of the door, is it going to come in?

You should be fine as long as you keep moving. I've done a couple crossings with water up to the headlights and never had a drop enter the cabin.

Ever seen this one?

It's from a thread, I don't remember who, but it seemed to be a keeper!

I'd most likely ask the owner of this one:

H2s are water-tight for the most part. H3s will leak. I have both 2 & 3 so no bashing stems from this post.

I'm on my 2nd 3 and I've only had the most minor of leakeage and that was due to having dirt in between my door seal and body. When my seals are clean, they've never leaked a drop. The h3's doors are triple sealed for reason, so as long as you keep them clean you should be fine

Wasn't the beer or the pee:fdance:

The H3 door seals don't keep the water out. Granted it comes in slow enough to drive through water for a short period, but they "will" leak. The H2 seals seem to do better.

Wheres the captain when you need him? There was a thread about a year ago from the "Captain of the Titanic" talking about how he got stuck with water half way up the door on one side and about the water coming in the cab. Of course no pics were produced and his story seemed to keep changing, but I would not bet money on your doors being water tight.

Found it; http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=19608

Of course, I have enjoyed going through some deep puddles (close to grill level) and have had no problems with leakage.

These conflicting answers are pissing me off.

Whether I come out with more respect for my H3, or soaked carpets, I'm going to find out for myself.

Pics to follow in the coming weeks.

As long as you don't stop you will be fine. Keep the water below or around the headlights. If you stop the water will come in past the door seals.

Don't forget the towels! :clapping:

You stop and you're swamped.. I've soaked the carpets twice.. Once up front and once in the rear.. The back door/hatch however does seem pretty tight though.. That was well under when I had water come in the rear passenger door..

Had about 5 inches of swamp water in mine this weekend. Ended up getting framed in this hole and it wasn't for about 10 minutes till I got pulled out. Boots were floating and I got water in my transmission. Fluid was a bright pink and transmission wouldn't shift into third. OnStar worked great.

How does water enter the transmission?

Not a clue. I guess their is supposed to be a one way valve in the vent but it didnt work. Haven't got an update yet on exactly what happened to it yet.
