Economic Stimulus Package

Ok, I don't know why, but I put my email on my state senator's email list so I get her newsletters every few weeks. For the most part, living in a blue state, she has never once had anything good to say about the current President in office. Her newsletters are always complaining about this and that in regards to the President's policies. So, it wasn't really a surprise when I received this one in my inbox today:

Economic Stimulus Payments

This week the federal government will begin to distribute the Economic Stimulus checks that Congress recently approved. The checks will go to hundreds of millions of households in order to give them extra income to spend during these difficult financial times. With the price of gas at the pump and food at the super market continuing to rise, these checks can't come too soon for families across Washington state.

There is still time to claim a stimulus payment. This is particularly important information if you are a senior or a disabled veteran that receives Social Security or veterans? benefits, but may not have filed taxes this year. That is because, through efforts by Democrats in the United States Senate earlier this year, you too may be eligible for an Economic Stimulus payment.

I guess that I should be very grateful to our Democrats in Congress for THEIR economic stimulus package.... :notallthere:. Hmmm....wait, wasn't she the one that raised our gas tax last year?

Eligible people will receive up to $600 ($1,200 for married couples), and parents will receive an additional $300 for each eligible child younger than 17. Millions of retirees, disabled veterans and low-wage workers who usually are exempt from filing a tax return must do so this year in order to receive a stimulus payment.
