Is this bad - Afrin

A week ago the wife and I made a friendly wager on something now forgotten. What I didn't forget is that I won.

It was our usual bet that involves the other person doing something nice and special for the other, if you know what I mean...

Well ever since then she's been sick. I don't mean faking it sick, I mean she's really sick. You know the kind, coughing, stuffy-can't-breath-out-the-nose kind of sick. Plus she's sore from coughing and tired from not being able to sleep. Can't taste food, etc.

So I'm just wondering if it's bad that I keep coming home from the store with boxes of Afrin so she can breath out her nose?

Yes. Not only are these chemicals bad for your body, but they can also lead to addiction and recurring symptoms that worsen over time. Worse yet, repeated use of these sprays is also known to damage the sensitive membranes inside the nasal passages which can lead to chronic nose bleeds.

Try breathe right nasal strips. :D

Afrin is brutal on the sinuses...

Look up a Neti Pot - sinus sufferers swear by them. I use it with a sea salt saline solution - plenty of recipes on the net - usually 1/4 teaspoon sea salt, cup of water, pinch of baking soda - if the baking soda irritates, eliminate it. Use either the Neti or a turkey baster looking thing to rinse through the sinuses. Sounds gross, but it does work and work well....

Ceftin is the preferred med for sinus infections - 10 day course minimum. Ceftin is much easier on the stomach than other similar meds. Z-Packs are usually not long enough nor strong enough - personal opinion

She has my TOTAL sympathy and I hope she feels better soon.

My $.02

Yes.

It also causes sleep driving along with temporary amnesia about the event, drug dependence, withdrawal symptoms when the drug is stopped after being used on a regular basis, excessively outgoing or aggressive behavior, confusion, agitation, strange behavior, hallucinations, depression, and suicidal thoughts.
