CHEAP SPARE TIRE DELETE.
So I removed the spare tire but didn't want to drill any holes in my rear bumper but needed to mount my plate and a DOT approved light.
So I had my buddy weld a piece of flat stock to the passenger's side tow hook and added a light, beats paying alot of money. Best of all, didn't have to drill a single hole into my bumper. ![]() . ![]() . ![]() |

PS: Ran the plate light wiring through the extra bolt hole in the bumper. :shhh:

Re: CHEAP SPARE TIRE DELETE.
"knock on wood" ....but I don't even carry my spare......I never wanted to waste the time and money mounting it on the back....and I like not having it on the inside.
I'll just get AAA to help out if needed. |

Re: CHEAP SPARE TIRE DELETE.
Anybody done this on a SUV not SUT? I'd like to put mine in the license plate holder thats there on the SUV but doesn't have lights cause they're on the spare tire holder.

Re: CHEAP SPARE TIRE DELETE.
Hey pteam, I broke down and finally bought the wiring harness and license pocket for the back door from gmpartsdirect. It was around $375 for both pieces. I know it's a lot but it does look a lot better now without the spare. I'll post pics as soon as I can.
