Grill swap pre to 08

There was a post a while back about putting 08 grills on older models. Someone said it fit just right but had minor brushguard issues or something. Can someone clear this up with me does it simply swap and is putting the brushguard an issue?

The '08 grille switches out with no problems as long as you switch both the main grille and the lower black plastic grille portion. I had to cut a small section off the sides of the lower piece to allow room for the grille guard to mount but it can't be seen once mounted.

Without a brushguard it should fit just fine w/ no cutting.
