So, I know the H2 weighs about 6400 lbs (without being loaded up with driver, passengers, dog, etc.). That makes it about 2400 lbs heavier than the sports sedan I'm used to driving that brakes on a dime.

After a long trip this past weekend, I got to experience some "emergency braking" first-hand. On one occasion, I did not find the brakes to be terribly confidence-inspiring.

The '05 H2 has stock wheels/tires on it. Do you get better braking when moving up to 22" wheels and lower profile tires? I know that one of the big brembo kits should improve the braking - definitely increase the resistance of the brakes to fade after a lot of braking. I'm more interested in just getting the H2 to handle emergency breaking better. I don't push the SUV hard enough to check out the boundaries of brake fading.

I have never had an issue with the stock brakes, but I am not in and out of a M5 Bigger wheels and tires, or just more weight on your wheel/tire combo will make your brakes cry on any truck/car.

I get a kick out of the blingers with their stock brakes and 24" wheels.

thanks. I like the AP Racing ones. AP has a great reputation in the racing world. Wonder if they make rears as well - in addition to the fronts?

The APs are good brakes. They offer new rotors in the rear, retaining the stock calipers. Since the brake bias has most of the front brakes doing the stopping, the rear rotors are what AP offers

The Brembos are much more confidence inspiring but they cost a ton of money--they offer front and rear calipers and rotors.

There is also this company doing a brake kit. I am not sure of the company or quality of the kit. The price is attractive.

i have 24's on my escalade ext and lowered the suspension too.. i have stock brakes and i can still stop on a dime.. i can definately tell that it is harder to stop. but not really that bad of a thing.. its by far one of my favorite trucks.
