Optima Battery That Fits?

I need to replace my stock battery and would like to know the correct replacement Optima battery model number and any special installation it takes or parts. Would like a larger capacity than the stock GM battery. Thanks for the help.

the only thing that is a direct fit for the H2 is a group 79 battery ,an optima will fit but not as well as a group 79 . just get a good 850 to 900 cca group 79.

I just went to Advanced Auto Parts store. They looked it up in a Optima booklet. They installed it for free. Their price was very good. It fit fine, no problem at all. They used existing clamp. It has worked great.

No, I do not work for Advanced. Come to think about it, I do not work at all anymore!

the optima fits with the adaptor on the base of the battery, but the group 79 fits better IMHO,and I have used both.

So are we talking about fit or performance?

I have an Optima in my Firebird and I love that is always ready to go when I need it and we getting one after the new year to replace the one in the HUMMER since we do not drive both of them everyday. ~Richard

you can jam 2 regular size yellowtops sideways there and link'em together...more capacity than the biggest single battery.

you can indeed do that ,and if you do it right it will give you lots of juice. I did a custom instalation for a customer where I used 2 industrial optima blue top batterys and a up graded alt . now he has powet for his off road lights,4 amps, and winch . you can do almost anything with enough money .

as far as ready to go ,If your battery is dead after a month of sitting you may have a drain on the system ,or a bad battery . a good standard group 79 or optima battery will hold a charge and start a vehicle after 2 months of sitting no problem .

Been through the drainage thing with testing ang meters left hooked up for days at a time and no one here will own up to the bad battery but will exchange it (2 to 3 times a year)This has happened with 1 car and 2 trucks and there was never any foundings but after 6 days a dead battery.

With the Optima we got in October, I just went 4 weeks and in some freezing temps during that time and the car cranked right up.
We will be replacing the HUMMER's next time to an Optima too.
Needless to say this has been a great Battery so far and I will reccomend them to others.
