Good Deal???
I have a guy who has a 2 year old 8" Fabtech lift with 40" tires needing to sell his truck and needs to take it back to stock, he threw away his stock parts so he wants to sell me his lift kit and me send him the stock parts back to him.
The kit is two years old non-offroaded with dual aluminum Fabtech shocks like this one: ![]() he's selling it to me for $1,500. Kit only with all the shocks and all included, and me sending him the stock parts back..... As cheap as it sounds I need to make sure i'm not making a mistake, do you guys thing its a good deal? |
Re: Good Deal???
The price is OK, just remember after you lift it and put on 40" tires you'll want to go to a higher differential, so it won't accellerate like a dog - so add $1100 for new differential gear and labor.

Re: Good Deal???
Thanks, anymore opinions from those of you with lifted rigs?

Re: Good Deal???
I thought there's no going back when you have to cut your differential mount off...

Re: Good Deal???
if i'm not mistaken Fabtech is all bolt on, am I correct?

Re: Good Deal???
my fabtech required to cut the front diff mount...

Re: Good Deal???
I'd have a couple of questions. How is the exchange taking place? Are you both going to tear your trucks apart at the same time? What assurances do you have in receiving his parts? It would be heelish to tear about your truck and not receive the kit. How do you know it's complete? Why does he have to make his stock?

Re: Good Deal???
Good questions, so... here is his story.....
He bought his 06 H2 and added this 8" Fabtech lift along with 22" wheels, 40" tires, a bunch of TVs, air horn, speakers and ridiculos pointless add-ons through his business including the truck, the thing is "pimped out", he says he spent about 20K in extras plus paid cash for the truck...... So, just like everything else, his business is going to sh*t, and he needs to make some of the money back, he has a buyer in the family who told him he would buy his 06 for $45K with everything on it but the lift because its too high for him I guess:violin: So he's willing for me to send him half ($750) then he'll take his parts off and send them overnight, I'll install them within a few days and after i'm done I'll send him his parts back along with the rest of the money, total of $1500. Will he still be able to bring it back to stock? AAAAAAnd, do you guys still think its a good deal being that its a 8" kit vs. 6" and its got all aluminum gas shocks and all....and he's paying for shipping. |
Re: Good Deal???
I would say you have the upperhand here. Not many folks are looking for 8 inch lifts or to run 40's. I bet you can negotiate him down to 1,000. You dont need it but he has to get rid of it.
I suspect he doesnt have a lot of folks looking to buy it. My thoughts :) |
Re: Good Deal???
I'm thinking if you send him $750 before you get anything you just get a thank you and not much else. I would consider it to be a scam especially since people say you can't go back on you lift. Just my 2 cents

Re: Good Deal???
In deals like this, I would just ship the parts and fly out and meet the guy to do the swap, then he can help you crate and ship them back.
Flights are so cheap its worth the "insurance" to meet the guy, heck...maybe make a new buddy and have a mini-vacation. I have done this a few times for equipment for work and toys.....always worked out well. Well, the guy could always turn out to be a murderer, and rape you and tie you to a tree in the woods, but u got to take some chances -) --John |
