LAMIN-X
Has anyone used the company Lamin-x to tint any lights on their car, if so please post pictures. They make tint for h2 tail lights and I emailed them and asked them if they can produce h3 tail light tint. Heres a direct link: http://www.lamin-x.com/Hummer-H3-s/384.htm

Yea I used them on my Mazdaspeed Mx-5. Real good product and I am thinking about doing them on my H3. The key with these is to make sure you clean tail light first. Then keep the light wet with soapy water apply the tint(it is real stiff) so use a flat edge( i believe they give you one) and use a blow dryer to mold to light. The blow dryer heats it and allows you to shape it. Like with normal window tint make sure to get bubbles out as you go as best as possible. But if there are some at the end just use a needle to pop and then blow dry over and mold it out. I would recommend it though |
Re: LAMIN-X
Thanks man, you ever hear of normal lights getting disfigured or the tint screwing up if you tint over normal lights and not led>?

Re: LAMIN-X
I wouldnt do the heads or fogs? They offer a yellow film for fogs that Ive heard works real well.
I think at it like this. Its hard to see out of windows at night that are tinted dark, I figure it has the same effect on the lights. |
Re: LAMIN-X
i sprayed all mine with 2 cans of tinted window spray from the hobby shop. cost 10 bucks for 2 little cans. worked great on my rear lenses but the fronts chipped right off after a few rain storms. the best part is if you dont like it you just put some acetone on a rag and wipe it right off. i would like something that will reliably do my turn signals up front and not chip off. i spose some film would work great

What is the name of your product and what store did you get it at?? Hobby LObby or something like that? Got any pics of tail? |
Re: LAMIN-X
I do not suggest spraying, I wasn't planning on doing my heads I was planning on clearing them all out. The spray does not come out as clean looking as the film. Eventually I am going to order a peice from Lamin-X 24x24 Cut it and do it myself or have my local shop do it for me. No suggestions if I should get LED tails or the stock are fine?

Re: LAMIN-X
Ive had buddies who have had their's done and its looked good. I did a pair of side markers on my old car the only thing i didnt do was clear coat them so off course it didnt have that shine but they were small and not noticeable really. Im going to try and do them in the next week or so. Ive asked around and got advice on techniques and all so I ll do a write up and how to when I get a chance.
